Has Joey Moved on?
Sounds like the immigration laws are technical and ridiculous.
Just another day at the office for Joey who has had to put up with ridiculous technicals all season!

He obviously want to naturalise. There are Gov requirements for that LV. One can be you have a skillset that Aussies are in shortage for, or can't do that unique job, there you won't put an Aussie out of work.

Shouldn't whatever visa requirements are required be sorted before he signed the three year deal?

The requirement is made by the Department of Immigration. Why? because they are the government.

There's nothing obvious to indicate that this is next level trolling. No throw away line making the joke clear enough.
Why would there be some requirement to advertise the role?
Isn't Wright signed already? That's what someone on here said when I asked in the DD thread.

So Gaze applied for the job? Bevo? Gleeson? The Goorj? Lemanis? They wouldn't get consideration?
Talk about government stupidity and the Sixers for falling into that trap. Even an objection from an unsuccessful applicant could stymy JW's application.

"I only say "bizarre" because it's a bit silly if the government requires such a blatantly phony paper-trail for such a highly specialised role."
Ok now I understand your use of the word bizarre. It is indeed. Typical government, hopeless turds.

"so if qualified people apply it could throw a spanner in the works?"Anon may have been referring to the residency application ("look, there are Australians who can do the job"), not the actual head coaching position.
How? They would just take the coach of the year who already has rapport with the roster.

"It is not a "bizarre" attempt. It is a Department of Immigration requirement that the job/role be advertised. A copy of the job ad must be included with all documentation. Seek happens to be the most popular job search website so it was used."
Last time I was involved in this process, there was no requirement to re-advertise, provided the nominated person has been doing the job for at least 2 years under a 457 visa.
I only say "bizarre" because it's a bit silly if the government requires such a blatantly phony paper-trail for such a highly specialised role.

Obviously for this specific instance, it is a facade and Wright will be picked defeating ghe purpose of the regulations.
The laws have more effective application when it comes to jobs where a relationship hasn't already been established with a foreign worker.

"so if qualified people apply it could throw a spanner in the works?"
How? They would just take the coach of the year who already has rapport with the roster.

If the job is meant to prove he is the best applicant and can't be filled by an Aussie, that's clearly wrong. Just sayin
Good luck JW.

so , on radio just then , a caller asked if joey was going to mel. united . "No".. they had spoken to sixers and joey contracted for 2 years and best man for the job here..

I find it hilarious you think it is a prank rather than for permanent residence requirements. lol at you
The sadder/funnier people are the ones thinking Joey is gone, though.

It is not a "bizarre" attempt. It is a Department of Immigration requirement that the job/role be advertised. A copy of the job ad must be included with all documentation. Seek happens to be the most popular job search website so it was used.

As has been clearly stated, it is a bizarre attempt to assist Joey with his application for Permanent Residency.

Starting to come on radio now . Probably TV tonite..
Sixers phone would be running hot now , media want answers....

Not going anywhere, his daughter is in the State program here. She is his priority now.

so if qualified people apply it could throw a spanner in the works?
Alan Black and Cal Bruton should apply just to troll.
Well Alan just to troll, Cal probably still believes he could out coach everyone and is the greatest. Also he has to support 38 children.

This is clearly for PR purposes. The government dept. requirements want a copy of the job role ad and the easiest way to do this is to list on Seek.
No NBL head coaching positions are ever on Seek, so why would the Sixers role be on it now.
Think people think!

I THINK, as Ken Cole was here stated, it is do do with proving that it is a specialised job, i.e must have 10 years professional coaching experience. It's to show that not anyone can do it and you aren't taking a job from a resident, basically.

Okay I know zilch about permanent residency stuff and why there would be a need to do this. Seems silly but just about everything is with bureaucracy involved.

Like a few posters have said already, this is DEFINITELY the 36ers fulfilling the requirement to advertise to get Joey Permanent Residency in Australia. Nothing more to it.
Source: I have had to do this before

Zodiac, the suggestion is more to do with changing the definition of the role for permanent residency purposes than change of ownership or a contractual thing.

I'd say he already has the job that he's applying for.
Joey signed a three year extension during the 2015-16 season which started this season so he has two years left unless I was correct that contracts become null and void with a change of ownership thus making this advertisement probably some legal formality.

I'm sure there is method to this madness...
I guess the suggestion here is Adelaide is altering the requirements of the job role to assist Joey in getting his permanent residence. The only reason they would publicly advertise for the job is if that were a requirement as part of legitimizing it.

Unless they happened to be incredibly fortuitous in all of their contracts to include a clause regarding change of ownership, then i'd say all contracts remain in tact subject to mutual agreement or breach of agreement otherwise. Contracts don't just become null and void in change of ownership or shareholding.
Hopefully that is the case in regards to NBL teams but always struck me as a bit odd the SOS group announcing Ninnis would be brought back when he was under contract already.

Adelaide Basketball Ltd are the owners of the Adelaide 36ers with the registered business name of "Adelaide 36ers".
What would they be doing advertising a head coach role for anyone else including a district club?
Wright is contracted so there is no reason for them to be advertising for the role...
This just appears to be a bizarre maneuver by the 36ers or a super fraudulent effort by someone.

Just listen to "Ken Cole was here". Might seem weird on the surface but jobs being advertised for the people expected to get them isn't uncommon. I'd say he already has the job that he's applying for.
One giveaway I noticed right away is the stipulation for 10 years of NBL coaching experience. That limits the field significantly...

one aspect of that is all contracts become null and void and need to be re-negotiate

The other side of it if it's true that the 36ers are going to be getting a new owner then I think one aspect of that is all contracts become null and void and need to be re-negotiated.
I remember when the SOS group took over after Ninnis' first year as coach they announced they were going to bring him back even though he still had a year to go on his contract which gave the impression with the ownership change his contract had become null and void and they were essentially re-signing him.

Joey's still got another two years to go on his contract so not sure about the needing to re-apply angle. If it's legit it doesn't sound good at all and chances are he would probably take Randle with him.
Joey's struck me as never really being that happy here and I think that might be in part because at Brisbane & Gold Coast he was used to having basically an unlimited budget and would get everything he asked for but here there is a budget, at MU obviously things would go back to how they were.
It would be extremely disappointing if both Joey & Randle left.

I'm presuming if true it could be the fact Ant man Randle ain't coming back to Adelaide(Mrs Randle's banned from Titanium Stadium)and another theory is that if Joey does end up at United that Randle will follow where Mrs Randle isn't yet banned from Hisense Arena. That's if they haven't been extradited already.

If this is some official type thing for Joey to simply read appont for the job, that is some weird adelaide type stuff. So little faith these days. This is odd.

if you are someone looking to become a permanent resident you need to demonstrate that you have a job or skill set that is unique and that only you can fulfil that task. ergo you aren't taking a job off a local.
