Adel and Bolden will be in the NBA.

Years ago

players like jo acuil, mangok mathiang, deng adel,
jonah bolden, matur maker will dominate and kill it in the nbl.

Just wanted to say Majok Deng did pretty well with the 36ers - he played on an average team in a poor conference as a senior.

Majok Majok was on an average team in a poor conference. Doing well in the NBL.

These guys were one the best player's on their teams.

While talent plays a large part, role, team fit etc all play a part too.

Actually yes have been to quite a few of these college games and watched plenty more
Agree some would do well in bigv ch or even SEABL , but don't forget their performances your evaluating is against lower level college age opponents , within a conference of even lower level teams than the ones they play in , in many cases
Everything IS relevant
They certainly would NOT just walk into an NBL team and be a star player nor a SEABL team which is basically the calls your making here

212, you must have been to a lot of these games yeah? Your understanding of role players is off. That what many of these guys are. Your argument is flawed, based on your logic, McCarron and Kay should only be in a shit BigV team? Hahaha.
BigV is semi pro, it's ok, but really not as great as you think anyway.

Years ago

A lot off them don't even fill the stats sheet, far to much credit is given to college basketball.

What you seem to forget is many of these guys play in crap
Conferences , so while they may "fill the stat sheet" at the college level it's basically the equivalent of a low BigV div level they have been
They will struggle at the SEABL level let alone NBL

We need expansion, jobs for these kids. Or is it time to just funnel out the older blokes.

Next year is even worse! So much talent that it's actually crazy!
I'd say Pineau, Donlan, Von Hofe will get deals this year, and Mathiang will end up overseas.

Years ago

If this isn't an argument for an expanded NBL, then I don't know what is!

Years ago

Liam Thomas-might be a good shot blocker in a poor division but he looks about 80 kilos doesn't score many points or take rebounds, not convinced he's 7ft either. Gets into foul trouble as well.

Years ago

Liam Thomas ended up leading the nation in blocks per game in his senior year, joining some very illustrious names in the process. Don't think he's going to be a superstar but there should certainly be a spot in an NBL roster somewhere for a 7'shot blocker/rebounder.

Matt Donlan is a great shooter, who is athletic and has size. With guys like Foreman, Coenrad etc get older, these are the types of spots that will start to come up for players of his mould.

Years ago

Yes but more so watching them play. Watch and see me be correct.

Gone are the days where D2 guys enmasse are gonna be pros in our league. Too many guys above them and too few jobs available in Australia.

Such as? Please name them, as it is certainly an area of interest. Nick Kay and Mitch McCarron certainly ended up at a much better level than most D1 players in their class.

Years ago

Anon 122, did you look at some of the stats, some of your Nbl guys would be lucky to get seabl. There is actually some better players in the lower divisions.

Years ago

sa country u14 / 18 champs this weekend div 1 - div ? 4.

now, before you start at me - we all know the div 1 / sa country players are probably playing for mavericks or a district club.

but if any of the clubs struggling for numbers cant get out and recruit some players from this - you are not working hard enough.

eve a car load of div 3 players from balaklava in u14s could be div 1-2 players soon.

let's see if you can walk the talk
