Lightning sign another Ranger, Natalie Novosel
Really ?when you look at the stats , Sherf played less minutes and out scored and out rebounded Kennedy, and most of that was done in the first half of the season, till her starting spot was taken, and it was not Kennedy who took that starting spot either, which you would think if it was because Kennedy was out performing her that would be the case. Kennedy was a great player though for rangers this season gone
Probably a good move then for Sherf to move to Canberra

the reason was she was performing poorly! she is not a good scorer or defender yet. even though cinno was much smaller and older she brought a lot more to the team at both ends.

Long shot?
Phillips/Clydesdale/Elsworthy
Seekamp/Novosel
Talbot/?
Bishop/Planeta
.?/?/Brook

And those reasons were ????

scherf was moved to the bench with good reason. it takes more than just being tall to be an effective 5.

What's the reason for the exodus of players from the Rangers?
I'd say a combination of reasons,
Clydesdale and Novosel is more money than rangers would/could offer as they don't have the budget they had when Mark Wright was coaching.
Sherf moving was on the cards after they removed her from starting five spot when she was playing well and then sat her on the bench pretty much for the rest of the season, can't blame her, their loss really
Anderson didn't use her bench at all really, certainly not conducive for any succession planning, you can't expect players to sit and wait around .
Bibby has gone to,college, Kennedy retired, no word on Mallott returning yet but she was injury prone, so that would leave Cummings, Toddhunter, Fadlojevic, Antoniadou, and Whatman left of last seasons team.
Lots of places to fill with only two players signed so far.

Just my opinion's
In Sherf's case I can argue that maybe with the coach choosing to go small most of the time instead of giving her the opportunity to work through mistakes and find form was an issue for her..Shes been coming off the bench for how long now?? why would things change next season. Who wouldn't want to start and play more than 20 minutes a game?
Same for Clydesdale, benched in many 4th quarters behind Toddhunter. Probably just needs another good coach with a fresh look at her talents and skills to give her a chance to blossom.
As for Nat, all I have is speculation after hearing rumors so Ill leave that alone but ultimately she must have enjoyed playing for Chris in Townsville.

The Jayco money isn't that influential now since Lightning and Boomers are cashed up.

Aren't Planetta & Novosel imports?

Yes and I bet they are not done yet as what they have signed so far still would leave a fair chunk of that budget, they still have imports if they choose, so will be interesting to see just who Lucas brings in

Yes

lightening/Lucas have been given a big budget this season compared to last season, to enable them to buy players to get them into the finals.

It would if she were an Aussie but she is an import. May not have been her call not to go back. Looks like she is loyal to Lucas

That would be the definition of being a mercenary would it not?

What money?

dont think it has anything to do with loyalty she has no junior roots here its a business to her, it where she gets the best money and court time, shes at the end of her career really , very injury prone, missed a good chunk of last season and was on limited minutes apparently even in training, so whilst she a great player , she could also become a liability again, so best decision for her is to follow the money and good on her.

A handy player in the WNBL but not much loyalty. Since coming into the league, she has signed with:
2013/14: Dandenong
2014/15: Adelaide
2015/16; Townsville
2016/17: Dandenong
2017/18: Adelaide

quality player and person, good signing

Easy choice IMO. Has had a brilliant season.
