FIBA World Cup 2019 Asia-Oceania zone qualifying
Ha, well the dream is officially over!

So basically Philippines being placed in Group B is because they are the assumed winner of the SEABA Championship. This is because it was originally scheduled to be played before the FIBA draw but was postponed.
Edit: The tournament is being played right now, Malaysia already at 1-3 record, whoops. But there was a chance originally :P

@Libertine
The 2017 SEABA Championship hasn't been played yet, it will on 12-18 May. The winner of it then qualifies for these qualifiers.
The FIBA draw used "assumed winners" for SEABA (one place) and East Asian Basketball Championship (five places).
It is confusing but hope it makes sense. So if somehow Malaysia win the South East Asia Championship they will be in Group B with Australia.

I remember you posting about that before.
I know the standard there is low but reading about your scrimmage again still blows my mind.

Well I live here, so would have been nice ;)
Although I've posted here before, fat 30+ and 185cm me who hasnt played competitive basketball since 2005 was able to compete with the national team in scrimmages.
Inhumane is probably right.

#775 Yes we would. NBL clubs (not Boomers) themselves have beaten the full China national team with Yao Ming back in the day.

No NBA players
No euro players
No college players

You think we would wipe the floor with nz or china with an nbl team. Don't think so...

Can't wait to show Asia that we are the best. Some of these countries don't actually believe we are legit. China and Philippines in for a reality check since the new cavalry has rolled into town.

So we play the 48th, 48th (Japan and Chinese Taipei are tied in rank) and 27th ranked team in the world.
It's quite possible we could put a team out of NBL bench players and they'd wipe the floor.

I wonder what the squad might look like.

Patty Mills and Hollie Grima have been named International Players of the Year for the male and female categories respectively. Pretty impressive for both given pretty strong competition.
