BA Prospects Camp 2017
According to the BA calendar they are planning on running the Prospects Camp again on July 19 to 21.
I would guess that BA havent mentioned anything about it as they are in the process of getting the event certified. The NCAA event certification process is a long and slow process, applications really werent looked at until last month. The NCAA has put in a new online system and new requirements for event operators so its probably slower than usual.
Theres around 40 events certified for the US summer so far, this is a far cry from the couple of hundred events that run every July.

BA is hamstrung, they cant say the event is certified until the certification is approved which they have no control over.

Gorris is the Gems coach cant see that changing till after they play worlds.
then I would imagine a new Gems coach will happen, just hope they dont put either of his current assistants in the job that would spell disaster for sure. They would end up like the boys

Bloom or nankervis then.
whos the new gems coach?

Hardly call it a success... who got scholarships off the back of it? Pupavac? anyone else?
The rest was just the usual bunch, playing front of the usual bunch of colleges that recruit asutralian kids.
Was no different to a U18 or U20 event... how much did BA charge ? $450? $500? to attend... on top of the accommodation & flights for the colleges? no wonder they only had 20 or so coaches there... success? not really. maybe if they had a decent head of the Ais they would have qualified for u19s and actually had a shot at real exposure. how do you not pick half the players that are at the AIS - for the u19 team? either you have picked the wrong players for the institute - or you have picked the wrong players for the national team.. either way - a dreadful job has been done!

Ah, Cochrane is on the injury comeback trail. If she was fit, like Simmons she would be off to u19 worlds.

Should be all top age players and let the bottom agers focus on upcoming asia champs.
IMO
MacDonald/Dent
Stattman/Armstrong
Krause/Robertson
Bowen/Leupepe
Froling/Dalton
Goodchild/Gould
Dangelo/Ayres
Clarke/Hawea
Bourne/George
Cochrane/Rees

for oceanias.

What do you mean nsw u17s?
Are you talking about u16 nationals squads?

Yeah that's really weird? No announcement on the BA website with the U17's or the prospects event?

No idea.
What about under 17 squads?
NSW announced their players but can not find full squads!

In todays tiser there was an article about Tucker wanting another NBL shot and about his great debut for Forestville last week. 33 pts 19 rebounds.
He mentions he was frustrated that he kept being overlooked by the 36ers and even offered to train with them and was not taken up on the offer.
What do people think?
I think in many ways he and Boti are right he would have likely been just as good if not better than any of our imports and i would have thought he would come cheaper. Boti mentions if we had Tucker and last years forestville import Riley L, we would have likely had a better win loss record, and part of me agrees. I understand he has allegedly had some off court incidents in his past that may put teams off, but if he offers to come and train for free then why not.
You could be blunt by saying, come in for a couple of weeks of training and we will see how you fit in with the team, game plan, etc, if you do well we may offer you a contract (no guarantees), but if you give us the slightest issue you wont be invited back.
Then you have nothing to lose, and my tip is he would have been atleast as good on the court than all of our current imports even at 35 or 36 years old, and his versatility may have been very handy with our rotations, would have prevented having small line ups like Shannon, Bruce and Carter all on together without really giving up any speed or movement on offense as Tucker would be as quick/mobile as any of them but is 6'7 not between 6'0 and 6'3. As we definatly had too many guards and Tucker could gives us a SF who can play anything from PG-PF and would have balanced out the rotations a little.
I hope for next season we get 2 good imports or just go with one proven star import, and i wouldnt initially look at Tucker, but if he offered to train for free, why not let him, and if any of our imports turn out to be duds/get injured, he may be a better back up plan than bringing in the next Howard.
