I don't think you have to be black to dislike him.

I'm white Australian and loath him. Everything about the way he behaves is boorish and gruff. So unlikeable.

I remember reading an ESPN article earlier this season when Bogut was still in Dallas and it mentioned that privately in NBA circles he's supposedly one of the most disliked players in the league as a lot of the black players feel he has racist views.

I'd guess he's smarter than average, but he seems to have some level of (personal) survivorship bias influencing his opinions. I think this is also a strong factor influencing someone like Clive Palmer - in his case, I don't think it makes him particularly useful in politics.
