WA SBL - July 2017
New August thread....

I know first hand he wasn't pushed. They were very happy with how he did all things considering. Hopefully they get someone committed to 3-5 years and get the program back to being a contender again

Causer has stepped down as coach at the Giants. WTF?
Surely he wasn't pushed?
Next year it looks like they will have their 7th coach in the past 10 seasons.

Hope the Redbacks lose by 20 in Eaton, have a feeling they will get both games this weekend

Man, Lako keeps delivering even with a $$$ stacked lineup. You have to give it to the man - no matter what situation he is in he delivers material for us.

A tenure of underachieving and false promises for lackovic. Has the eighth seed ever knocked out the number one seed in the quarter finals before? Can't imagine it has happened too much. Buccs to win in two, Cougars not likely to repeat.

can the willeton tigers women bounce back and win this w-end or not ? see sam norwood played I wouldn't have thought she was able to qualify with enough games ? injury list ? big time player who has snuck under the radar. wolves women last years minor premiers can they bounce back as well- both last years g/finalists under the pump.

Lakeside for WSBL, Lord their Father to bless them with their 2nd championship
May He bless them with alcoholic beverages to celebrate the win.

I also think Geraldton

Geraldton - Men
Mandurah - Women

Who is everyone's pick for the title? Men and Women

Tigers had zero offence last night. Hawks scrabbled really well to get out to the 3 ball and force turnovers, where's as the Tigers were slow. I actually think Adekponya disrupts the Hawks flow when he's on the court. Feel free to disagree with me.

Great wins for Slammer and Hawks
Where is Adekponya?
Cougars only down by 3 in last minutes Could have got there. Chan out with an ankle and back next week
Seb out next week Can Cougars win both games.

Mike Lay has been one of the stories of the season. Out of the game for 3 years not touching a basketball, comes back in and has shown up in big time games

Thats just a great win by the Hawks tonight and also by the Slammers for that matter . Really has put some spice into the finals picture....

"Season over for Hawks"
Yeah, nah... No Adekponya, no worries!

No Adekponya and Walters playing with a broken hand.. Season over for Hawks ...

Jay Bowie a late out for tonight could change the complexion of the game.

slammers have the potential to steal a games as do the senators. I see the upset coming with stirling. they are big/mobile , will bother the buccs.

Quarters
Joondalup 2-1
Perth 2-0
Geraldton 2-1
Willetton 2-0
Semis
Perth (vs Willetton) 2-1
Geraldton (vs Joondalup) 2-1
Grandy
Geraldton 87 Perth 81

You could say the Cougars have been Cock Burn-ed from the pounding they gave the Wolves in last years grand final :P
#BLOODISREDYOUIDIOTS

East Perth have been a weird team all year so that does not surprise. Kevin Davis coming off the bench most of the year??!?!

Apparently the Pack didn't fare too well against the Cougar who prefers to Hunt Alone in 2016. When all odds are stacked against them, the Cougar strikes. The lonely cougar who chooses to do things in their own way, rather than just follow the pack.
The Cougar seemed to have the entire pack by the jugular and never let go in 2016. Ripping the throat and voice and apparently the ability to shake hands right out from the pack. They never saw it coming.
#GREENBLOOD :P

Matt Nielsen to coach the Lakeside Lightning next year. Confirmed from reliable sources.

The Cougars that just lost to the Suns will beat Joondalup in a playoff series?
Give me a break.

Black has to be a shoe in for COY. He has taken a talented side and gelled them well enough to be top of the ladder. Lacko has simply had Redhage injected and without him, they have struggled. Black has coached Tigers without some studs at times and they have still won games.
** Nener starts three guards comment** he's doing what he thinks makes match up issues for opposing teams, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but the boys trust the system and they now have probably the best match up out of the finals run. They play Joondalup who are nowhere near as good as they have been in the past. Yes they are still in second but that are by no standard where they were a year ago.
Cougars will win that series and avoid Redbacks, Willo, Bunbury and Perry Lakes in second rounds.

Ha ha Nener COY Cockburn would have finished a lot higher with a decent coach. Always starts with 3 guards, even if the other team has 3 big players To busy chatting refs to coach.

Nelson hasn't played enough games to come into the equation compared to others like Shervill

Did Marshall play SBL last year?

Mens MVP - Benjamin
Mens MIP - Nelson
COY - Black
Womens MVP - Ali Schawg
MIP - Izzy Mioti
COY - Miegel

There is no way Wellsteed will win MIP over Shervill.
Welsteed Averages- 5, 3 and 2, shooting 35%FG, 23%3PT, 49%FT
With Averages last year of- 3, 2 and 1
Shervill Averages- 16, 7 and 1.5, shooting 46%FG, 37%3PT, 79%FT
With Averages last year of- 5, 3 and 1

Men's Most Improved - Wellsteed (Wolves)
Men's Most Valuable - Nichols (Slammers)
COY - Evans (Buccs) or Nener (Cougars)
Women's Most Improved - Miegel (Magic)
Women's Most Valuable - Burton (Hawks)
COY - Miegel (Magic)

lol how does Lako win COY. FOH Black is a sure thing

MENS AWARDS
MVP- DWAYNE BENJAMIN
MIP- COREY SHERVILL
COY- NIK LAKOVICH
WOMENS AWARDS
MVP- CARLY BOAG
MIP- CHELSEA BELCHER
COY- GLENN CLARKE.

Why has Oatman lost job at Lakeside? Tough gig bringing those juniors through, losing a few of them to college/COE and getting a couple of good wins late in the season despite these disruptions.

WOW+LOL @ thinking head to head seeding occurs if you don't make playoffs. The only point of adjusted positions for seeding is to be, well, "seeded" if you made the postseason tournament, not if you're out of it. Bwahahaha!
