Wildcats sign Derek Cooke Jr
That's exactly why I made the assumption. I had the whole Earnest Ross/Oceania rule in my head.

Pretty racist to assume DKD wasn't from Australia cos his skin isn't white...

... in his usual rude fashion.I know almost nothing about DKD either, but I've been doing the logical thing and assuming he was playing as a local because he was one, having no reason to believe otherwise.
Not everyone's life revolves around Wildcats players.
Is that anon going to ask about the nationality and parentage of every non-restricted player in the league? Because that's going to get pretty old.

Luuuc I agree....this mix of speed and the Euro step made him hard to stop in the open court, it was almost a bucket and/or foul shots each time.
However, Sobey was not far behind.
Prather also knew how to move without the ball, how many of those backdoor cuts did he and Martin connect on.
Finally, he was also a good defender, his ability to get into passing lanes was quite impressive.
He is a big loss to the Wildcats.

There was no one in the league better in the open court last season than Casey Prather. He's going to leave quite a void in our offensive variety.
Cats still look a strong team though.

A more offensive oriented system may not be such a bad thing in 17/18 NBL. LK and JLo have been banging on about wanting a more flowing, exciting and faster-paced league this year. Perhaps teams are anticipating that push by head office may translate to the refs more inclined to penalizing a heavily defensive oriented, slow-it-down team.

Wildcats have 8 of 11 returning player from 2017 championship (and technically Lucas Walker was there last year - so that makes 9). Makes for a strong side.
Casey Out - athlete, above the rim, attacks the basket.
Devondrick In - shooter, ball carrier.
McKay Out - shot blocker, rebounder.
Cooke In - transition, dunker.
Seems more offensive type orientated. But then again you still have Damian Martin running the show. Also heard that Wildcats released one of their assistant coaches, Jamie OLoughlin contract wasn't renewed.

I haven't in the past. That doesn't mean I'm not interested now. Now I know... American dad?

^ I'm with @LoveBroker. You don't like it, get along.
@Koberulz, that was brilliant.

If you don't wish to discuss Wildcats players, perhaps you might want to consider not accessing a Wildcats player thread.
As for rude....I think it had the right amount of sarcasm without being blunt.

He's not classed as an import due to a technicality that says Australians can play as locals.

What is the story with DKD? Import but not an import because some kind of Aussie family ties?

They will cut and sign a better import if need be mid-season. Save money by only paying a better one for half the season.

Brandt is starting 5-worthy IMO, so I guess we just see what combinations work.
I'm loathe to judge just off a compilation clip but he seems like a fairly similar McKay replacement - reasonably tall & quick, but no range to play the 4 and questionable bulk to play the 5.
So I don't see him being dominant but he should slot in pretty easily into the same front court system we had last season.

Sobey's college team mate?

Looks like Brandt is our sole 5 on the roster then... I think Knight (please stay healthy please stay healthy please stay healthy) is probably more equipped to fill in the 5 than this guy if Brandt gets into early foul trouble.
Looks like a downgrade in terms of rim protection and rebounding than Jameel, but stronger and more athletic.

Does this dude start alongside Knight? Or does this mean that Brandt is the new starting 5.

what a double block buster. better get there early for a seat !
