Corey Webster to Israel
Agent?

Paul, you know he had 'big' offers from Europe 2-3 years back? How do you know this?paul's line of work would mean this information came past him pretty regularly, I'd guess.

Anon #642363,
Your post would be bang on if I made a comparative statement in my post or inferred that NZ media didn't do that. But I didn't. And my post wasn't about the NZ Media; it was about the reference used by the WA media.
In my opinion, NZ media can be shocking so I don't disagree with you - it's a big shame having our teams represented by some of the media IMO.
I don't know - I guess I was just disappointed that CWebb had made the decision to join the team (hadn't done anything wrong and was genuinely excited about the upcoming season) - to then have it inferred in the media, as I see it, that he walked out/quit before the season as if (again as I see it) because he turned his back on the team.

Do you have comprehensive proof of this and the timelines leading up the the decision?Word of the Cotton signing broke within a day or two of Webster's departure being announced.

"I was quite angered by WA news postings which made it as if Webster "walked out on the Wildcats" "
Because we all know the NZ media is fair and balanced...

LoveBroker yes i do.
But as the above poster suitably said, its not a bad reflection on Perth. I believe that they've done the right thing for everyone concerned. I'm a huge fan of CWebb and i'd hate to see him being stuck to a 20mpg basis.

Timeline: Corey released, nek minute Cotton signed. Corey asked for a release, and they were professional enough to let him go. It was a win win, as they saved money, which allowed them to offer Cotton his asking price.

"I think we all know there was an element of Cotton coming back that Webster was pushed/kindly threatened with reduced minutes."

I'm open to your statement being true, but there should be evidence before we start casting aspersions.

"Have to ask yourself why at this point in his career"
As the poster said above, why not. It's far from a bush league.
Secondly, in any event, where else would he play? There is likely no openings in the NBL for him (not because he is not in demand; far from that). Europe seems the default option.
I was quite angered by WA news postings which made it as if Webster "walked out on the Wildcats" and turned his back on them; and basically painting him in a bad light for getting out. I think we all know there was an element of Cotton coming back that Webster was pushed/kindly threatened with reduced minutes.

Wish Webster all the luck in Israel.
He is prone to doing senseless stuff off the court but otherwise is a great player.
Hope this turns things around for him.

I guess having an agent that couldn't get the deals done for him previously held him back from good Euro deals. He now wants to push his limits whilst he can still ball! Ben Madgen went to Europe at 29-30 his first time.
