2017 FIBA Asia Cup - 17/08 QF Australia vs. China
Are people here serious with the Moller stuff? It's getting out of hand, even if they're not. Let's see him actually play ONE good game of pro ball before handing over the reins of Aus basketball to him...

Absolutely paul, thanks. He should come good.
LOL @ the "but 6 assists and 1.7 steals pg" stat replies.

Newley also 2nd in steals per with 1.7 per... Second only tpo Creek with 2 per...

Anon:
'I had Newley above but only due to the name. Take him out, he has been such a bum lately.'
Newley leading assists with just under 6 per game...

Boomers vs Tall Blacks semi final showdown.
Boomers set up semifinal showdown with Tall Blacks

Martin/Cadee
Sobey/Lisch/Mccarron
Creek/Moller
Kickert/Bairstow/Johnson

I had Newley above but only due to the name. Take him out, he has been such a bum lately.

Goulding or Sobey (if continues being hot) as well.
That's for PG and SG.
This Asian Cup team is an NBL B team.
Bigs as per Asian Cup.
An A team starting five would be imo:
Martin
Goulding or Sobey
Newley
Kickert
Andersen
Bench players from this Asian Cup.
One naturalised player allowed = Lisch?

Oh.. and Lisch for someone else.

Out
Norton
Gliddon

+
Cadee
Mccarron
Creek
Kickert
Anderson
Hodgson

Newley out.

Who would you take out and add in come qualifiers?

71-55 now at 3QT, just a tiny 16-0 run in four to five minutes. Another trash team put into the dumpster.

Two threes in a row from unexpected sources makes it +8 all of a sudden. Even the commentators just a minute ago were saying WTF at it being so close.

WTF why is it so close? Pathetic if we lose. $1.06 unbackable with the bookies yet could be a boilover.

Newley....pfft

Baller#3 makes sense. I thought it was odd they were jacking it against midgets. So either it was preconceived (let's hope) or just laziness.

I dare say this game is why we have been continually shooting from the perimeter. We could have dominated with size all tourney so far, but then when adjusting to bigger teams may have struggled. I think we will come in a wipe them if we play the same style as the first three games.

Will the refs be um, Chinese?

This will be the first time we've faced anything approaching "size" this tourney, so we'll see. We should win comfortably, but it's a decent step up from the teams we played in our pool.

Interesting article about Lemanis' upcoming work with the Boomers.

He mentions how the warm up program involves 2 matches v Spain in Spain which will be a great test for us prior to the Oceania Championships. I hadn't seen or heard of these matches anywhere else until now:
“We go to China for a tournament and then on to London for an Olympic test event – we get to play in the Olympic venue against some good teams which will be a great experience. We finish off with two games against Spain in Spain before coming back to take on the Tall Blacks starting September 7th in Melbourne."
