Big article on Larry K
That also drew a WTF from me. The 500 if correct would include a lot of casuals or shared staff from LK's other businesses.

Kestleman came in after the 2014-15 season.
What was the total crowd figure for the two seasons of 2014-15 & 2015-16?

Probably significantly less, considering Townsville and the Hawks were barely existing.

Does anyone know what the total crowd was for the first two LK seasons of 2014-15 & 2015-16?Kestleman came in after the 2014-15 season.

Great article.
In the article it says 725,749 was the total attendance for the 2016-17 season.

#620 LK gets complete control to not have to ask for permission to go forward in any deals the league makes. The benefit for the clubs is he goes ahead and forges all sponsorship ties, broadcast deals, links with China & USA etc. Basically what he is doing now. They worry about the club side he worries about the league as a whole. As a club you have enough on your plate in your own backyard to be also worrying about league-wide matters like sponsorship. Most leagues don't have clubs as shareholders, that structure was stupid anyway. Back then Marvin was vetoing everything. Pretty simple.

Anon fight!

Anon #645595 it's in the article - he wanted complete control to make decisions himself directly instead of waiting on confirmation from eight separate member shareholder clubs.
Again another person who didn't comprehend the article.

Someone tell Grant Kelley the Sixers franchise he bought a few months ago isn't his because LK bought it in a buyback LOL. Man the school system is so poor nowadays no one even knows how to properly. All-time classic Hoops brain fade this one.

Cram you are so ungrateful. LK poured $7mil into the league. At least something different has been tried instead of the halfarseness of the past.

Zodiac, LoveBroker and orhers - it wasn't a buyback of the teams. It was of the league entity. Learn to read. Shocking comprehension skills on here.

The Wildcats have been rightly criticised in the past for their insular 'us against the world' mentality but in this instance I think they're justified in not selling their team or whatever back to the NBL and thus LK.
If he wanted to buy back the other teams and increase his ownership stake to 94% that his business and the Wildcats would know owning 100% would be easier for him to sell off in the future.

"LK the Savior of the league". I'll believe that when any sustainability is proven in the model. Until then he's putting on a good show but hasn't saved anything

There are 8 Pizza Franchises in WA.
Shops 1 through to 5 perpetually lose money.
Shop 6 breaks even.
Shop 7 makes a meager profit.
Shop 8 makes almost $1m a year.
Someone comes in promising to take care of everything but it must own all the franchises for the deal to go through.
Its a no brainer for Shops 1 - 7, as Franchisee #8, would you just simply give up a $1m a year company because the other 6 cannot sustain themselves financially and one other is barely keeping their heads above water?

Um they replaced him weeks ago...

These longform yarns are good, but the next step is making the league a staple of daily sports sections/bulletins

Those criticising Perth's decision to not be part of the buy back, please explain how it all works and what the pro's and con's are for each club.

Say what you want about the man and owning a few teams in the league but he's invested. He's only going to do things that make it better because he's balls deep in it.

Thats the most Perth thing of all Perth things to not be part of the but back scheme. LK is the saviour of NBL basketball period. Money passion for the game smarts great combo.

He's done a fair bit of good for the league, But I still have a big problem with him owning 2 teams as well as the league.

Very good article. Gives me a lot of confidence in LK. Also nice to know hes a lot richer than i initially thought!
Also mentioned that SBS will broadcast 2 games a week next season with a Saturday night 5.30 fixture for those interested. Sweet.

You would think if LK owns 94% of the NBL the Wildcats should be matching the extra additional 6% on top of the capital he has put in.

He's made a nice pile o' moolah since his early BRW rich list days! That's a pretty strong warchest backing up his fight to make this sport among the top in Oz.

Interesting that it says Larry now owns 94% of the league with every team agreeing to a share buy-back except for Perth.

17yo Isaac Fotu from Aucklands Rangitoto College has moved up from the Breakers Academy Squad to take up 1 of the Development player spots. He is hoping to play College Ball in the States next year so this is def a step in the right direction for him.
