Retiring AFL player wants to switch to NBL
Interesting idea.
Say you had a player who was genuinely good at both sports, and had kept a bit of touch.
Could they transition back to BBL,and at what point?
But besides that, I think there are some good athletes who don't quite make the AFL cut, who would be well suited to basketball if they had the skills.
There always a few guys who get lumped in the "Utility" category, because they're tall and quick. But not quite nippy enough to be a genuine midfielder, and not quite big enough to be a KPP.
Keep in mind that that the guys are already "past consideration" or delisted at age 20~21.

Jesse is moving to Adelaide with his wife Jody and daughter Evie. We welcome Jesse, Jody and Evie to the Glenelg Football Club.
Jesse’s relationship with our new Senior Coach Mark Stone, was a contributing factor in his decision to sign with Glenelg. Mark spent time at Sydney as an assistant coach while Jesse was there as player.
Jesse is “excited to be part of a new challenge and is looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the team”.
We look forward to Jesse starting with us in the New Year and believe that he will make an immediate impact both on and off field.

So Wortho and Redhage retire and the league is easy, lucky Vukona is still around... its still tough

AFL journo Mitch Cleary has no clue what he was babbling aboutSeems that it's merely that he wasn't aware of the distinction between training players and development players, which is hardly a major oversight.

need afl fans to watch nbl
would be good
re moller used as advertising potential

Can't be a DP, max age allowed is 25 as of April 30. If he is offered some sort of contract it would be as training fodder at best. AFL journo Mitch Cleary has no clue what he was babbling about and Crivelli already confirmed no DP spot free at Utd. Rubbish news drum-up.

Apparently was no mug as a junior, remains to be seen if he can match it with players today after devoting past decade solely to afl.
Interested to see who everyone on here thinks could theoretically make the jump to the nbl from afl and have an impact? I think Scott Pendlebury would've been an obvious one at a time given his known junior career and giving up his AIS spot which ended up going to Patty Mills

Is this a move by United to let the other teams know that after we are smashing every team in the league at home we're going to throw in DP player/s that can't play the game so the winning margin comes back under 25 or 30 pts.

May be as a training spot as opposed to the official DP roster spot?
I wouldn't be surprised by a few guys giving it a go, most AFL careers wind up around 30 and you could still get a few solid NBL years in after that. How successful they would remain to be seen.

This explains why Eddie Mcguire was at the season launch as i can't think of any other reason. If Jessie White knocks United back i think they should go hard for Shane Warne(he's good in putting balls in holes) or Garry Ablett jr as he wants to return to Melbourne.

Revenge stunt for the NBL? Would've thought the transition from basketball to footy would be easier than the reverse?

there is a pretty tall dude in the milbank photos thread he wears number 10 standing next to DJ he looks american could he be our next import
