U14 Nationals
Why does there have to be something better? Kids need to learn that sometimes no matter how hard you try your team isn't good enough. What's wrong with getting half way through the week and knowing that, then teaching the lesson that you go out each game, exchange gifts with the opposition, play as hard as you can then shake hands after the game no matter what the result. Learn what you can, make some mates, then go home proud knowing that you made it to Club Nationals, did your best, finished 13th (or wherever)

No one is winning a national 16s/18s coming from 4th in their pool. If you're not good enough to finish top 2 there, you're not winning it either. The 'opportunity' to get demolished by a Vic Metro in the cross over 1 v 4 only gives you the illusion that you're a chance to win a medal.
We don't need medals for 13th and 14th at a nationals level. Its ok to not be the best. I don't understand the need to reward mediocrity.
The teams that were unlucky to have Eltham and Sydney in the boys pool this year weren't good enough to beat the best teams in their state to get into a better pool. They were massive underdogs coming into the competition, just like every team from every non Victorian state that squeaks into the club nationals.

They don't give rubbish awards for the 16s or 18s. Why do we need a new system? Just use that one.

Yes duke Fan,agree with the trumpeting that goes on about a mid ladder finish.
I am at an Association who won the Shield Division one year and the way parents carried on you would have thought they won the world championships.
They reckon their child was the best.

It's just life these days anon. Can't have the also rans getting hurt feelings now can we? Won't be long before everyone gets a medal
Don't get me started on the times I've seen clubs trumpeting their "success"in the "Shield finals"

Why do teams that finish 13/14th get medals when there are 9 other teamswho have worked harder to finish where they did and above them that get nothing but a place in top 12.
This is rediculas.

Few girls and boys missing from there teams. Only 9 players on the roster.
Really talented boy from Rockingham and a takented girl from Forestville.

I think you'll find those teams with 11-12 have either brought in bottom age players to get exposure for next year or have been hit with injuries.

see some teams have 11 or 12 - be interested in peoples thoughts - i think it is good given the workload for them as long as the players and families understand playing time conditions.
