Wildcats v Hawks Friday October 13th

When we see them in 8th place in late December we'll know they can be written off from challenging for this season's title ;)

Years ago

You're probably ahead fifty bucks after all those minimum sized bets. Big deal.

Anonymous
Years ago

Bigads fyi I was wrong on Sydney but right about many things last season, which is why I finished ahead on $$$.

But betting takes too much time. I've literally got 6 bets pending on my sportsbet account right now and plan on leaving it there for this season

But really Luuuc is right. I'm just trying to put the moz on them :-)

Zodiac I said Perth were favourites

Never said 'one to beat'.

I don't really care what you call it though. Right now they look like the team who is most likely to win it. I think now that we've all had a look at Tokoto most here would agree

Haha, Little H coming in hot. That's why I asked a question, rather than blatantly say what the rule was.

One step should still be enough to find a safe angle

Years ago

Always with the Perth v the rest of the world agenda! ;-)

Years ago

Look, he finally understands his ability to jinx a team with a #1 prediction, and is using it for 'good' (trying to deny the Cats another title) rather than for actual prediction purposes, so you non wildcats fans should all be grateful ;)

Years ago
At the very least, you can't say any team is the one to beat considering it's Round 2 and Perth has played both games at home

This is LV we're talking about he gets a bit excited early remember "Kings then daylight" last season?
Years ago

It's good to see the mocking you endured with your Sydney and daylight prediction from early last season hasn't stopped you from making early season favourite predictions this season.

Years ago

Great signs for Perth that we can still win if Cotton hits one bucket. I wouldn't be too concerned as a Hawks fan after that though. They did a lot right, and Ogilvy for some reason just turns to shit against us (which kinda made me chuckle when I watched the telecast, and Homicide asked "How are you going to stop Ogilvy?") Against the rest of the league he's usually more than solid.

That Conger swat though! :O

That's just semantics Manu

Someone can be 'favourite'. If I was going to pick a team right now for winners, I go Perth. United's talent - and performance in OKC- puts them 2nd. But Perth definite #1.

Melbourne are a great team on paper.

But wildcats are the team to beat. They are the reigning, defending world champions.

Melbourne didn't make the playoffs last season.

If Knight lasts the season its a miracle

Anonymous
Years ago

Manu no way

Talent wise If both teams are healthy it's fairly even. United with a better starting 5 and Perth the better bench.

But we're talking about a proven team vs an unproven one. United were 10-8 after Casper arrived last yr.yes, had 10 of 18 in road, plus CG and DA had injuries but...compare to Perth - swept their way to championship.same coach and same formula that's won 3 of last 4 titles

Proven vs unproven- the proven group is favourite for mine.

The 'Cats are good but it's frankly stupid to say they're 'the one to beat'. Like don't even go there. Melbourne have showed in one NBL and one NBLxNBA game that they should be

Years ago

Hawks weaker whenever White and/or AJ on. Coenraad better than last season and definitely needs more time. Works hard, effective shooter and passer and great IQ. Brandt is a surprise for Perth, great improvement and Waxy its so good to see him back in the league and a coach using him well. He was great at Sixers as well but no space with the new style and he was the only one they could cut.

Years ago

Oh and - how scary is that, 3 points from Cotton and still won by 10!

If I was Gleeson I'd keep either Cotton or Tokoto on at all times.

Anonymous
Years ago

When Tokoto jumps up and down defending inbounds passes, all guys need to do is take a couple steps to the side when he's in the air. Isn't the rule three steps maximum inbounding from an out-of-bounds situation and unlimited steps after a score?

The Cats run like a well oiled machine.

Walker and Tokoto have added some athleticism to this team and Cooke has too. I suspect they're going to suffocate a lot of teams and win many games with their opponent scoring sub 70.

Great to see Walker enjoying his new lease on life - with Redhage out and Walker in, it's just not the same watching Perth play. I don't immensely dislike them anymore!

Definite championship favs.

But Conger and Johnson have shown enough that Hawks fans should be upbeat about the season despite being 0-2.

Has there been a more consistent player off the bench over the past 10 years than Wagstaff?

Gee is it ore season already in WA?

Years ago

Tokoto is more than I expected. He is pretty much where Prather was at the same point starting in his NBL career, will only get better.

Agree with your comments on Perths second unit, they looked really sharp especially in defence and I credit that to a lot of playing time during the ore season. Once the first unit start clicking this team is going to look very solid.

Years ago

Tokoto is a beast. Think he's filling Prathers spot perfectly.

Cotton went missing tonight. Credit Hawks D.

Wildcats second unit came up big tonight.

Perth? Don't like em

Years ago

He looked absolutely shattered at full time. Camera was on several Hawks players and he looked like he was about to cry. Lemanis knows more than we do?

Years ago

Your all idiots...

It's sydney then daylight

Years ago

Memo to Redhage: verse does not = versus

Years ago

Somebody shave Knight while he's sleeping please.

Years ago

I'll wait to see how Perth do on the road before I lump them in the Adelaide/Melbourne category, but if Knight stays healthy and Brandt keeps playing as he is they should be top 3.

Years ago

Yes I have: ADL, MEL & PER then daylight.

Made the GF only due to Randle hogfest.

Perth Adelaide and Melb top 3

Other 5 fighting for 1 spot

Conger is a beast doe

Years ago

Hawks are as they were last season. Not legit. A lot of Conger talk but where has he gone during the scoring draught. Another pretender team.

Years ago

Redhage replies with how he's pussy whipped and the wife is a vegetarian. My god what a boring boring whitebread bore.

Years ago

Homicide asking if he gets a discount card for HJs. Nice.

Years ago

Conger Who got block of the century.

Years ago

Tokoto is the GOAT inbounds defender.

Years ago

Conger who?

Years ago

Yep, Bevo looks lost for ideas for once.

Years ago

Im liking the 2 'game plans' if you like, of the wildcats.

Its almost as if its two seperate teams between the starting 5 which is the 'new team' so to speak filled with new offensive and defensive options. And when that doesn't work or gets shut down.

They bring on the bench of the core team of the last basically 10 years and play cats defensive ball that won them championships.

Its a great backup plan to screw with many many coaches

Years ago

Hawks 7pts in the last 15mins... pathetic

Years ago

11,539 crowd.

I'm sure Lamenis is watching AJ's performance.

Years ago

One of the worst individual performances I've seen in a long time from AJ.

Years ago

Cats up double digits yet still ooze effort. Hawks lack it.

Manu keep hating.

Years ago

AJ squandering some decent opportunities.
