Bradtke to help Sydney Kings as rebounding coach
JvG controls all recruiting. He likes the control.

Gaze looks lost and out of his depth. The rebounding issue his team faces is a result
of poor defense on the perimeter allowing too much penetration and the fact as other mentioned that he has recruited a small front line. It becomes impossible for a player like Perry Ellis to step up and help on a drive and also get rebounding position when a shot is taken. If a Gaze would only realise that the rebounding is a problem as his defense is always (getting beaten and) in rotations and scrambling to find their players.. how do you block your man off the glass when in rotations on defense???
The fact he is treating the symptom rather than the cause tells me he lacks the knowledge to coach at this level.
One more thing, he admits that they won’t get better quickly then says maybe they need to bring in “4 captain marvels”???
Has it not dawned on him that he selected and recruited this team. Any personnel shortcomings should be squarely attributed to who was responsible- himself!

I think the significant points should be:
1. You don't have to have been a superstar as a player to be a great coach
2. Being a superstar as a player doesn't mean you'll automatically become a great (or even good) coach
Does anyone know what sort of coaching work Bradtke has done since his playing days?

How man of those coaches were successful with no other head coaching experience or hell, even no assistant coaching experience?

Dome Rat I don't think anyone is arguing that ex players don't make good coaches. Most coaches play at some level or another before getting in to coaching
The argument is against players mentioned who stepped or tried to step too soon into gigs that they weren't experienced or qualified for. A great player doesn't automatically become a great coach

Billy T is an icon of the NBL, in a more infamous way however but still an icon. "Coach"-turned-Goorjian's best-personal-assistant-ever. No joke but Billy T's main job role at the end was to make sure Goorj wouldn't forget his wallet and car keys etc, get coffee. as he was so forgetful. Billy T you did good! #icon

Instead of signing a player over 6'6 who can rebound, we of course hire a rebounding coach. Awesome. If the Kings were an under 16s reps squad, that might actually work.

"If you got a starting centre who is 6'8 and a pf who is about 6’6 rebounding coaching will not help. Try getting an import centre."
Agree 100%

To hire Bradtke clearly tells everyone its all about the Tigers and screw us Kings fans!!
My season tickets are now in the bin!!
THIS TEAM IS OFFICIALLY A DISGRACE!

Brett Rainbow as dunking coach
Then JvG will hire Elle McFeast to judge his performance as said coach to show AEG everyting is fine.

Bradtke will be playing in a wheelchair, so he'll be outrebounding the Kings front line in practice.

I can't help but think that this should've been done the moment you have Humphries' signature. Even if you didn't, it would be wise to have someone with that experience or expertise working with bigs to watch them during practice.
One other thing, didn't Bradtke just have total knee reconstruction 2 weeks ago? How would he get around to show the kids?

This reminds me of the time the Wildcats brought Scott Fisher back to play a couple of games coz the team lacked toughness.

Giddy - Shooting Coach.
Nigel Purchase - Defence coach.
David Stiff - Head fake coach.
Stephen Whitehead - Assistant to the Assistance coach.
Ray Gordon - Anger Management Coach.
Lanard Copeland .....nah that's not even funny.

Very good read this from Olgun Uluc posted by Luuuc.

Incoming Warwick Giddey on free-throw technique and Ray Gordon on the art of squirrel gripping.

This is pretty poor really. Firstly it reeks of being cheap hiring another Tigers mate on a part-time basis who can't exactly go out there and get the rebounds for them rather than addressing the real issue by signing a big man and secondly it really throws the players under the bus in a big way making them appear so inept that they need to be taught how to rebound.
In saying all that Ellis & Humphries are both very poor rebounders for players of their size.

Might as well bring in Dennis Rodman who can show them to play with a bit of heart and also resolve Australia and North Korea tensions..

BWAHAHAHAHA at first it reads like an April Fool's Day joke.
While they are at it they should also sign up Giddey & Gordon as coaches. Oh and maybe take Lindsday out of retirement, why not.

"Concentrated block of time" - sounds like a bandaid. What are they realistically going to get from that that they haven't from a career in the sport with dedicated coaches.
Day one: "So, have you heard of boxing out?"
