Knight to miss Sydney game
"Helmets do not prevent concussion"
Otherwise boxers would not get punch drunk later in their careers.
Interesting moment in an NFL game last season. Defensive player made a tackle and was in the process of getting up, no apparent problems. Was half way up and on his knees as his team mates came in to congratulate/celebrate, as they do after every play. One of them slapped his helmet (again - as they do after every play), not heavily but firmly, and he immediately went into body swaying and almost collapsed. They took him off and he failed the concussion protocol.
Helmets don't stop the brain from getting shaken about inside the head and that's how the concussion happens.

I wonder how his team mates feel. Sure they probably love having him around. But the risk is clearly there. I sure as shit wouldn't want to be Angus Brandt banging with him in the post. You would hate to be the one that delivers an unintentional blow that causes serious damage.

Agree... Enough is enough and the team needs to step in, otherwise he'll be wearing a stackhat permanently...

Agree with everyone else here I thought it was bad enough that he not only chose to play on this season but that the Wildcats allowed him to play on. This was all expected.

Helmets do not prevent concussion. They protect the wearer from lacerations etc Concussion is the brain bouncing around inside the skull. Helmets do not stop this from occurring.

Why doesn't he wear one of those helmet things?

This just seems to be one of those (pardon the pun) no-brainers.
Matty Knight has been a star of the League and particularly the Wildcats. It's a shame to think that his legacy will be blighted by continuing to play when his health is obviously an issue. This must surely, now, fall under the 'Cats duty of care to the player to tap him on the shoulder and say "Thanks, mate, your time is up, for your own sake and the sake of your family."

Yea, this is when the club steps in and tells him that his time is done. That means reshuffle players then so be it.

Ridiculous. Surely with his head knock history and the article saying he received knocks last month its time to give it up. Think about your quality of life when your older, not earning a few more $$ from bball.

At what point do they just get the bloke a stack hat covered in bubble wrap?
