How can you trademark a celestial body?

Supercats SEABL are a continuation of the NBL Supercats, so not the same thing as some random 3x3 comp taking the name.

Geelong use Supercats in SEABL.
Gold Coast use Rollers in QBL.
Nobody seems to care about that.
I don’t think it’s a problem.
Plus these names haven’t been used by clubs for 20 years.
The Gold Coast Suns don’t get hindered by the Suns trademark issue.
I’d think they’d have got away around it

DJ Rod what I don't understand is why did they want to rebrand away from the Suns? What were the reasons behind it? Thanks.

Wonder why they didnt go with Crocs as the name? Do the NBL own the rights to that name and didnt allow it? And if so, do they not own the Devils name too? Would this have implications on a Tassie team joining the NBL as Devils would have been a top choice for a name (nostalgic reasons)

I recall someone (DJ Rod, maybe?) saying that the trademark infringement issue was invented out of thin air as an excuse to rebrand.

WTF?
These are NBL teams. What happens if these cities get a team once again their historic names will be blocked. Plus won't NBA say trademark infringement re: Suns name again?
