Illawarra v Perth
Congratulations Oscar. A great journey from the Under 14 Nationals in Perth in 1995. Well done!

Yeah pretty much all been said.
Kenny is a fantastic backup PG, especially as backup for Damo. He's been a great addition to the team. That 3-man rotation of Martin, Cotton, and Kenny is very reliable. But Martin is the lynchpin. Kenny isn't starting 5 calibre.
Cotton can certainly handle the ball, but much better as the SG where he cops less close checking. Plus defensively nobody can match Martin when it comes to guarding opposition PGs.
Don't know WTF it is with Wagstaff, but has been this way for a while now, either runs red-hot or stone-cold.
Brandt must be carrying an injury? Started the season well, but now seems to be struggling.
Steindl. In theory it seemed like a great idea. Why wasn't he playing NBL. GF in Perth, seemed almost serendipitous.
But whatever he had a couple of seasons back, seems to have gone. Lost confidence maybe?
Cooke? Nah, we need somebody who is starting material, and then imagine Brandt coming off the bench.

Plus he is one of their most reliable spot-up shooters

Yeah, he is a point guard after all. Generally speaking, the position has obviously changed and they may as well be called 'points guards', but Martin is a throwback. Actually runs sets and organises shit. He's smart as and dictates their offensive tempo. Playing off the ball allows him to step back and see what is working too

Doesn't really explain why our offence sucks so hard atm though.
Great D creates some easy buckets for sure, but last season we had a genuine inside weapon in Angus Brandt. This season either he's not the same player, we're not using him as well, or teams are better at countering him. Either way, taking away that dimension from our game has left us looking pretty ordinary in the half court.

I guess from day 1 Perth recruits are told Damo is the guy you look to and listen to, and if he's willing to defend his ass off then you are too. That's just how it is. You hustle here

@Manu - I was think the same thing about Martin. Perth are a totally different team with him out. You would think with his stats that a perth could cover him adequately but nope, irreplaceable.

Illawarra wanted it more and simple as that! What happens if Martin retires tomorrow? Sydney will pull our pants down!

To me the 3rd import needs to start, no point having a role player as an import period!

I wish there was a way to properly quantify a player's entire contribution to a team; be it tangibles and intangibles.
Damian Martin would probably be the best player in the league

They do have issues, you dont go up 16 of your issues are that bad. I dont think there is a 24 point turnaround unless something changes, no trips to the ft line until it was out, game was called differentlt after the 1st and it was decidedly one way, players lost focus and didn't bring it. When teams lose big leads usually somwthinf changes. 4 ft seriously, 7 blocks for the hawks prettys sure some of them had to be fouls

Short changed? Pffft ... We got out-worked by an undermanned team who fully deserved the win.
Cats have got some issues atm, and will have to deal with them on the road for a few weeks.

Adelaide were screwed in this game. Damn refs. Oh wait Adelaide weren't playing my bad

TOKOTO UNSPORTSMANLIKE?!?!
Seriously refs, get your shit together. He hugged him

Rhys martin is a thug. Hawks got away with way too much contact. 6ft in 39mins for a team with perths game style is a joke. Please explaim how that was a foul on vague? If thats a foul perth should have shot 30ft. I do forget though its perth so everyone here is ok seeing them get short changed by calls.

Bevo ball is a beautiful thing when the whole team is up and about like this.
Cats failed to match the intensity. Pretty disappointing coming off a rare home loss.

Haha you're the only joke here, #835

LOL the NBL is so shit. That's why I keep watching it and posting about it because of what a huge joke it is LOL. Last years champs aren't even winning this game LOL

AJ Ogilvy is just a big lump of coal these days. Adds bugger all to his team

People say the cats get away with handchecks well fuck me. Hawks getting away with murder. Cats playing poorly but refs are making dam sure they won't come back

This league is complete utter garbage
No wonder the ratings are an embarrassment and the league does everything to hide it.
LOL that stadium in Wollongong is tiny and it is only 1/3 filled....I am sure the hawks are going to be around for a long time

LOL
The Hawks who are winning in 30 minutes of basketball have had only 12 defensive rebounds LOL
Only in the NBL

Kenny is a complete lability. Slow thinker, slow mover

Cats are fairly screwed once Martin retires

LOL the Wildcats who are supposed to be the best defensive team giving up 61% shooting to a badly undermanned team LOL
What a trash league

If the Wildcats are the epitome of a championship team this league is in a lot of trouble.

And the cats somehow blow a massive lead again for like the 5th time this year...

If Hawkies get up tonight, Melbourne is a genuine shot at minor premiership

NBL always rotates between good quality and pixelated mess

Norton out too

I'm not sure of the details but apparently there was a big cockup with ticketing at the Kings vs NZ game on Saturday. There have been posts talking about members who had to sit in nosebleeds due to this stuff up (how much would that piss you off!!) and Members who didn't receive their tickets at all. Just as the Kings are managing to draw 5-6k to each game they manage to piss a whole load off. A real shame seeing as the management was doing so well. Hopefully they make a quick recovery, get it sorted & apologize instead of just gagging fans on Facebook (although admittedly, some of them probably did post some inappropriate stuff). Thoughts on this? And does anyone know anymore?
