Maybe having players out injured forced their hand and then it's been hard to deny his contribution since?

Even if there was no plan to keep him in Wollongong, I don't see why you don't play him anyway if he helps you out, and if you don't want to deter future free agents.

Yes the Hawks have at last got their mojo and the Illawarra is excited at the prospect of another tilt at the final.
Yes we are all in awe of Conger & Clarke but the whole gang is contributing in their own way. The win over Perth will always be special but the battle of the smart, technical coaches with first Ferne and the Lemanis showed Bevo’s enormous value and ability.
We get excited about the current group of imported guards but seldom mention the back court generals especial the old guards. Perth were no where without their D Martin and let’s celbrate the seldom mentioned game winner Illawarra’s R Martin whose smart play and team organisation iis more than Special.
The best year ever for the NBL? I really think so
