Stop teasing NZ. I reckon they go well considering the size of the population. Maybe compare them to NSW or something instead of the whole country.

Why is girl's basketball in the doldrums?
What's happening, because the drop off is starting in 16s when it used to be 18's?
Several clubs have to use there 18's, U23's to play senior women because they don't have the numbers so what's the issue?
Some clubs have excess numbers, essentially Sturt, Forestville and Norwood who are suiting up multiple teams per year level which is either a reason the others don't have enough or enough of a reason to close some clubs down.
Is trimming clubs an option?
Is basketball on the nose in S A ?
How do we even up the competition with punishing the successful clubs?
How many clubs can Adelaide really support, 6?
The state of district girl's basketball is a double whammy with average talent and low numbers and a significant percentage of the better talent is within those very few clubs.
Centrals have become the new center of country basketball replacing Mavericks and Mavericks are now struggling. When the Kadina crew move on centrals will be in the same position as Mavs, with locals shunted for country talent no longer involved. It is an issue.
Souths and Woodville's woes are well documented so I wont rehash that issue.
What's BSA's take on all this?
Do they want the number of district clubs they have or are they waiting for some to fall over?
At present, players can play anywhere they like, for any club that offers them gold or just opportunities. Under this structure, the three top clubs have worked hard, used money and contacts wisely and grown their businesses.
The weaker, smaller clubs have been poorly led and had precious little growth for a number of reasons best left unsaid.
So we have a few outstanding clubs with numbers to burn, some clubs scrapping by and more than we want of clubs bankrupt of players and quality coaches.
So what to do?
Do we accept byes every week?
Do we accept very ordinary competition?
Do we accept kids in one club having to play kids in the same club ad nauseum?
Do we continue to pay district fees for a social competition?
Who is trying to fix the mess?
Does BSA know there is a mess?
Does BSA care there's a mess?
If the system remains the same that is, players can play for any club despite their post code, smaller clubs will continue to offer no competition , on occasion have byes and in too many cases offer no teams at all to play.
If the district clubs don't want a zoning system then BSA has to oversee a revamp of the number of clubs in Adelaide because the situation is not going to get any better.
History is written by winners and basketball needs to get its house in order very quickly.
