WA SBL - February 2018
He’s playing SEABL genius

New March message thread is here.....

Hussey should be off the bench.. but that won't happen because he wouldn't have signed there if that was the case.

I'm sure the SBL will look into every teams player payments to make sure clubs aren't doing anything dodgy.
I must be needing to top up my medication, they won't look into anything, to much like work.

"... high values that Shawn and our entire playing group enjoy being a part of."
WTF are they on about? Oh wait, "high values" = $$$. Got it.

Roberts
Vigor
Redhage
Barrow
Smith
Hussey
Wagner
That's a formidable 7.
They will just keep throwing quality guys at you all night.
So who comes off the bench? My pick is Vigor & Wagner.

"This is another significant day for us as a club when we have someone of Shawn's stature in the basketball community making the Perth Redbacks his club of choice in the State Basketball League."
"It cements what we have been building over the last five years and aligns with the high values that Shawn and our entire playing group enjoy being a part of."
"What I have focused on in my time as coach extends further then just the on court results for our team. It has been about creating a positive environment, surrounded by positive leaders and mentors, to assist our juniors in learning what it takes to be successful and Shawn, in my opinion, is probably the best example of that in Western Australia."

For the rookies posting hating on the SBL - the BigV pre season tournament was cancelled due to lack of interest... the WASBL one is always a success.

Regarding Parsons.. are you guys just forgetting his previous stints as a coach in the league?

Lako should have won last season with that roster.Hell Nener could have coached that group to a win. It was ridiculous. Not sure anything he did coaching wise really was the difference. He will tell you it was all his coaching though.

Parsons is the best coach in the SBL. Ettridge is also very good. Ellis and Lako a distant 3rd and 4th. I think Oatman was hard done by last season. He was a good coach.

Lako.
But seriously what is it with Ettridge. Seems like he chokes in GFs. As a Wolfpack fan it is very concerning.

Lakovich is the best coach. He is getting NBL interest.

Garbin will return to the QBL for the start of their season after Taneisha Harrison and D'Lesha Lloyd arrive

flames announced it on their FB

Yes it's true just like someone said quite a while ago. Welcome back Darcee. Cool of her to fill in for a while.

PR probably means permanent residency.

ciabattoni is a restricted player ave 17.2 mins per game this season
what does PR mean with schagmeyer? also is ash grant playing at lakeside or has she moved to Melbourne.
willeton have an import coming and ive heard kunek ?
cougars is that Keisha lee ?
magic have carly boag back.

What happened with Schwagmeyer at the Lynx this season? I thought she was close to naturalising and playing the second half with them as an Aussie?

dont think Alex Ciabattoni would be restricted...??

That is my point, doubt he could even be considered when he isn't even here aha. Might have a rotation policy, although I can tell you Robinson is a few tiers below the other 2.

Slammers with an All-American starting-5....
Lookout!!
G Lay
G Robinson
F Voelkel
F Reynolds
C Weeden

Haha Clarke getting in early before the hate is directed at his crap team. You guys going to try avoid getting pumped by 50 this year?

This forum could be really useful and relevant by sticking to a few simply rules:
1. Avoid personal attacks on individuals and clubs (eg Lakeside ref)
2. Eliminate immature posts (eg BURSTO)
3. Refrain from posting fake news
4. Stay off the SBL threads if you just want to bag it and be a hater
It's hard when people can hide behind anonymity, pretend to be someone else, and use multiple usernames, but the SBL is what it is, and can be improved, rather than undermined. If you're not brave enough to put your real name to your comments, then accept that you are a fraud and be aware that, in modern times, people can track down your true identity quite easily.
Those with ill-intent and/or character flaws can set up their own threads and spare us with a genuine interest in the SBL from having to read or filter out your nonsense.
P.S. For the last two years, I have stopped reading this tripe once the season starts for the reasons mentioned above. Some people's lives are inextricably interwoven into the SBL, so please by mindful of the impact that your trolling and bullying behaviour can have on others.

wow, a lot of different imports in the league this year. it will be good viewing.
I also heard the slammers have 2 imports in the women as well- does anyone know the slammers import women.

How long will that process take?? And who is Demetrius?

good hit out by the Hawks and Tigers tonight, close win by Tigs in the end. Purser and Cummings looked good for PL, while Armour and Scott were big for Willo. Bowie a bit rusty. Tyler Monroe was a bit hit and miss but showed glimpses.

Makes you wonder why don’t the wildcats academy enter a team into the SBL? Granted the Wolves would still be a bit short of a run being older players and a month away from the season start, but I think everyone would agree the wildcats academy would be more than competitive wouldn’t they?

haha good reminder to show you folks how average the SBL is!

No NBL guys for the Academy group.
Academy
Vague, Cummings, Bragg, Grida, Beard, Casper, Melusi.
No Illiadis and no Matacz
Wolves.
Billups, Huntington, Salinas, plus their two new guys Clausen and Sullivan. Plus Ironmonger, Wellsteed, both Maxwells and a bunch of bench guys.
I know its only preseason but Wolves got shown up. Academy team had 3 development players and the rest teenagers.

More importantly who played for the Wildcats academy? Also did any first teamers played to be ready for finals?

Wolves minus Trian and Damo lost 80-100 to the Wildcats Academy group who only had 7 players themselves.
Wolves played their main squad all first quarter to be down 2 points at the break. Then rotated their bench in the 2nd which didnt go to plan and found themselves down 49-33. After that Etto and Co. played their main squad again all the second half but it was a wrap by then with the young cats rolling the wolves.
Import guard for wolves looked average against the press. Billups was dominate though.
Grida, Callum Beard and Ben Gasper very serviceable players for the Academy team.

Hawks play Tigers this afternoon. Might get to see who's got what. Both nearly at full strength.

Anyone know anything about the Slammers two newest recruits? Justin Reynolds and I have heard they have another in town

"Perry Lakes in a bidding war for Redhage" bahahaha no, just no

Dark Horse. Saucy.

In a very scrappy game, Rockingham defeated Mandurah tonight 70 - 65. K Beard & Godfrey be at for the Flames whilst Magic really only had Pal inside keeping them in the game.

And in my modest, humble opinion it will be between the Wolves and the Redbacks for the title again. Willeton are still to be the great pretenders and the rest are just making up the numbers, with exception of the Hawks who I rate as a dark horse and an outside chance.
Original JR signing off simpletons!

The last two posts under “JR” wasn’t the original JR as that would be me.
Come up with your own name you suckfish!!

Aaaand senators just made King official

do SBL teams make players pay rego fees ?

Willetton will be running Collins a lot more this year too:
PG - Armour
SG - Scott
SF - Bowie
PF - Johnson
C - Diagne
b- J.Jackson
b- Black
b- Burston
b -Collins
b- Noordhork
b- L. Jackson
