An objective take at last night's scuffle in Perth
#459 and you play for?

Anon 443, seriously, the jealousy and hate for him is unwarranted. He’s a great kid that works hard. Blue collar guy.

#426 I'll give it to him that he does work hard. Not in anyway jealous of him being a DP, having a roster spot though would be a different story. My point is across the aprox 100 Aussie born players in the NBL he is out of place. Anyone with a basketball brain would know that.

I hope Teys gets a game, DKD a heavy fine, and the rest get lighter fines.
That would be a fair result in my book.

Laker824, did you wake up and drink a full bottle of Hateraide before your post? Larkins has put in hours of hard work daily and is getting rewarded for that. To say he somehow deserves what Walker did simply because he is getting an opportunity that obviously you or a friend didn’t, is lame.
Grow a set yourself and do something about it, don’t wish harm on someone because they are living their dream!

I personally think Walker deserves a pat on the back, should've done more. It is embarassing seeing Larkins get court time he has no place in the NBL, he is garbage at Premier League. Have refused to go to a game since hes been on the roster, must be the ultimate coach's pet....

Teys is like the zac dawson of the nbl. If joey wright wasn't coaching teys wouldn't have a job just like zac dawson and ross lyon

Areyyou saying DPs shouldn't be on the court unless it's a close game?
Percentage matters. Nothing wrong with playing to the buzzer, every team does.

People are calling him names because he is so irrelevant that they don't know who he is

In all the years of Shaun Redhage the dog, karma is a bitch especially when its on a kid who really wasn't even part of the play (referring to before), but took the hit and made the play.
What I have noticed lately is lots of flapping of the mouth from every player. FFS, just play.

If they call a double technical with 19 sec to go there is no melee. Control not management.

Yep. Refs no idea as usual.

Walker and Teys should've been ejectedThey were.
I don’t know what occurred post that foul wise but if DKD got away with the push without a tech then count yourselves having won the situation.DKD was ejected.
For mine, Chris Reid is the one responsible for this. Should have T'd up Teys and DKD when they were going at each other the play before, instead of wrestling them apart while paying no attention whatsoever to the game going on down the other end.

As Homicide said, “Adelaide just continue to come and come and come down your throat”

‘We would be more sympathetic if Perth weren't the quintessential example of bully boy behaviour & dirty tactics. If you're so aghast by the proposition of bully or dirty behaviour, then don't support one who's reputation is stamped by it.’
Maybe you could find a Wikipedia entry for hyperbole.

Gotta love these flog Adelaide supporters who think their team is full of angels.

Good example of what KET is talking about:

People would clearly rather quarrel than discuss the whys and the hows. It's easier to do I guess

"But sure, pretend this is about Perth's physical style of play if you want."
Nobody said that.

People are simply saying - it was an USF and it got called for an USF. What's done is done.
What else is there to complain about? Teys was a bully? Teys was dirty?
We would be more sympathetic if Perth weren't the quintessential example of bully boy behaviour & dirty tactics. If you're so aghast by the proposition of bully or dirty behaviour, then don't support one who's reputation is stamped by it.
A lot of the more reasonable people would look at floggish behaviour a bit more objectively and see it from both sides.
I've been known to call out Drmic for bad and provocative behaviour, Shorter for having a short fuse and the likes of Ferguson last year who got provoked, sucked in and lashed out displaying amateur hour.
Last night Perth certainly weren't innocent victims.

^ yep, pretty much.
Which is fine btw. I don't think anyone wants actual fights to be occurring.

Whole bunch of cock waving in that stadium last night and nothing more.

The ref was standing right next to them too.

That Walker headlock sling was just a nice cuddle for the little bloke right? Nothing wrong with it? One eyed support for both sides obviously blurring peoples judgement

So where is the unduly rough play charge for Walker? According to Zodiac, he started the whole thing.

A number of reports have been made following last night's game between the Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers at Perth Arena.
Adelaide's Brendan Teys and Perth's Dexter Kernich-Drew were both reported for unduly rough play arising from an incident in the fourth quarter.
Adelaide's Shannon Shorter and Perth's Lucas Walker were reported for leaving their benches during the same incident in the fourth quarter.
Majok Deng, Nelson Larkins, Anthony Drmic, Mitch Creek and Shannon Shorter (Adelaide) and Dexter Kernich-Drew, Clint Steindl and Jarrod Kenny (Perth) were all reported for engaging in a melee.
The reports will be now reviewed by the NBL Game Review Panel and any charges will be announced by 6pm Sunday. All players will be available for tomorrow's game at Titanium Security Arena.
From NBL.com.au

I just read the comments on the Sixers FB page. A bunch of rabid morons saying Teys didnt hit him hard enough, or Teys was justified, or that Perth is “always dirty” so this was somehow their fault.
Sixers fans, huh?

Committed an USF in the dying seconds of a blowout, against the youngest player on the court. Yep, punishment is still an USF but it says a lot about Teys as a person and leader.
But sure, pretend this is about Perth’s physical style of play if you want.

Steindl has a massive red mark around his neck after the game. Did anyone see what Clint did? Shorter was going mental at him.

Walker acted like a flog too

Teys is a loser in every sense of the word. I am going to make my feelings about this dud known to the Adelaide club.

Teys targeting a DP who had done nothing wrong all game (since he hadn't even been a part of it) like that says a bit about his mindset and character, but it should have no influence on his penalty.

“Walker started the whole thing”
Are you serious? Whatever Walker did, its ridiculous to suggest Teys was responding to that by taking out another player. If Teys had such a problem, why didnt he go after Walker?

“Welcome to the league fella”
If you want to pretend Teys was “welcoming” Cummings, go for it. The fact he is a DP won’t factor into any punishment but combined with the other facts of the situation (score line, timing etc) you end up with a player deciding to take out the easiest target on the court when the game was well and truly over. The entire incident was on Teys.

Gotta love Perth fans. Walker started the whole thing with his gutless dirty play on a little DP so when Teys decided to get back at their DP he's the instigator. Walker and Teys should've been ejected and DKD should expect a suspension. It's a shame Walker has fully bought into Perth's dirty bully boy ways but so be it.
Yet another example of the refs being intimidated by the big Perth crowds and letting things get out of hand.

Larkins is also a DP and walkers throw was just as bad if not worse than Teys foul

Walker should also be punished for the throw on Larkins

A heap of Perth fans “objective” take.

Not a bad summary. Teys is the low dog who started the whole thing and probably did so because of frustration at his own s*** game and USELESS career.
DKD overreacted but he is a passionate bloke who was sticking up for his teammate and was disgusted by Teys lack of class and sportsmanship.

NBL SALARY CAP PROBE GIVES CLUBS ALL-CLEAR
The National Basketball League Commission has completed its salary cap audit of the teams that finished in the top four last season and has found no evidence of salary cap breaches.
The NBL Commission determined midway through last season that whichever teams finished in the top four following the conclusion of the 2010/11 iiNet NBL Championship regular season would undergo a salary cap audit.
Accordingly, the New Zealand Breakers, Perth Wildcats, Townsville Crocodiles and Cairns Taipans all were visited by the NBL’s salary cap auditor, Tom York, in recent months to have their financial records scrutinised for any irregularities.
NBL Commission Chairman Justin Milne wrote to all nine NBL teams today to confirm that no evidence of any salary cap breaches had been uncovered during the course of the audit.
The Commission has flagged that in the 2011/12 season the NBL Commission intends to vary the timing of the salary cap audit and it may well be split into two or more parts.
Club, did you cheat?
Nope.
Sweet.
