Norwood 16D1 G

Not one bit of what you have said is true, but don't let that detract from your vindictive agenda.

It's not hard to work out who you are based on your made up story, so be very careful about who you take potshots at.

“Discussion”

Usually refers to an exchange of ideas in person.

Wow, junior sport really has parents living through their children. The children don't even care as much as the parents. So many essays on here being written, how about we get this in depth with NBL issues since it's the playoffs! Wow.

All clubs poach at some level , the more successful the club quite often the better they are at poaching . Do u think for one minute that some clubs are on the phone to norwood girls right now ...... ! I know they are !
There is nothing wrong with that !!

Its great to finally see the smiles and unity within the U/16 girls! Before the "mass exodus" and previous coach the team was beginning to full apart then.
Children learn best when they are happy and feel supported by their peers!

Well said Chewy! Reading this forum i feel we all really need to get the facts right! I don't believe its fair to say "I heard it from a reputable source"! Perhaps you should ask the Coach why he got the sack from Sturt! Thats the most reputable source. I think you will be very surprised!
Secondly, a TEAM is about "together everyone achieves more"! Your child may be a great athlete but along with that the coaches are looking for, good attitude, respect for themselves, players and their coaches not to mention the game itself, discipline and being a team. Without this i don't believe you can say your child is a great athlete of any sport!
JDO's, clubs and BSA should be there to support these coaches as it is not an easy task. Not only are they coaching what they love and have great passion for which is "Basketball" but unfortunately have to put up with constant questioning and ridicule from parents! quiet sad really!
Good luck to the U/16 girls i believe there is an exciting season ahead for you all. I believe you have great experienced coaches (not left overs at all) and we are excited for Norwoods girls program right from the U/10 to U/18 that is developing and becoming very strong and positive. Norwoods coaches coming through have great experience knowledge and understanding of the game!
All the best Norwood!

Once again perhaps it may be worth getting the facts before making comments, judgement and criticising! Maybe ask the families involved what really happened. Not to mention how unsportsmanlike it is to walk out of your teams and not playing the rest of the season! I’m sure that’s says enough! Great team work???

Coaches all over Metro need to review and take advice on their girls programs. Many are being let down. Attrition rates are high and poor entry in to the sport as well. Girls needs are so different to boys and that needs to be acknowledged and maybe some elements in the comp changed to acknowledge those needs to draw more to the sport. Clubs also need to develop teams not individuals and parents need to encourage their daughters to be team players. BSA state need to do what is good for the entire group of talent and not use the many to promote the few so they can have bragging rights. There seems to be a correlation with the success of individuals and the poor results of a team. And moving to dominant clubs is understandable but the knock on effect is detrimental to those that get pushed down and out and to the overall competition. The issue is then you have no competition to play against then disappointing results ensue at interstate and national comps leaving everyone including parents to scratch their heads because they are dominant at home. Then the wheels fall off as blame is thrown around. Coaching is not easy, being a player shifted from friendship groups regularly and seeing inequality in training and treatment from clubs and coaches isn’t either, being a paretn watching it is probably the worse situation as they have the players when they leave the court and all the emotions to deal with and the rest of the girls lives to support and encourage. They carry the burdon at the end of the day while coaches walk away to their other lives after 4 hours a week. Opportunities blocked by politics and self serving influences all push girls away. Parents desire for their daughters to be the best using their rose coloured glasses rather than encouraging them to have perspective and options in life and coaches just wanting to impress their coaching mates or not putting in the work and continuously improving themselves and using volunteerism as an excuse and justification for poor leadership and no respect for players and parents. We should track players and teams and collect data and information to measure success. Succes is about player satisfaction over all else at all levels of play. For girls that will vary depending on the individual, their family life and calues and ability. We need to look at negatives and be honest as those are the barriers to success and take constructive critiscism and stop being defensive. For the good of the sport, the players and the state. It is after all about the Players who are more than just a player being used as a porn in a coaches game. Hard but truth for many. This is not a generalisation perse but a common theme seen over years involved with girls programs from all aspects, player, coach and now parent. From a womans view in a sport dominated by male coaches as well. There will be many who take offence to my comments and others cheering for some honesty finally being posted. What we need is a revolution of women to stand up, educate themselves and start coaching at the lower levels and over time reinvade the upper divisions and bring back women coaches to the sport. And learn from what it takes to develop girls at the bottom end. That will make you a much better coach and understand the complexities and needs of young women and girls and bring back balance, enjoyment and success to our sport. We are youth leaders first and coaches second. Wins will come to the talent but enjoyment and personal happiness is the most important aspect for the many. Lets make that out priority. Div 1 is such a small part of the competiion. The cream will rise but you need the milk to make that happen.

2 poor teams out of 8 in Div 1 and it’s where to now for Norwood??

Never use lol, but above forestville transfer comment did my me do it.
Where now for Norwood, 16 girls are terrible, 18 boy div 1s are worse, lost by nearly 100 a few weeks back, 16 boys that were invincible in 14s are middle of ladder. Not really Willie's fault, a lot of these appointments were made by others despite him supposed to be in charge. A lot of good coaches left because of these outside appointments, namely committee members interfering to get mates in roles.

This is just sad , a solid group of kids just wanting to play together and a poor coaching appointment means that’s over . Very poor by the NBC , but it happens at all clubs

The coach is the issue
