Boomers and Opals named for Comm Games
But why not Johnson? available..

Could have called on landale or cooks just for the exp.

Lol.
Give it to nz already.
Ridiculous...

Lisch?

Andersen is a quality 4/5 who can step out and nail the open 3 pointer, and was just in the thick of an intense GF series. It is hard to find a like-for-like replacement for someone like that. Walker will do I guess.

Lol...
Not Johnson?

Thoesby on the England team.

Cooks
Moneke
Reath

German regular season ends 1 May.
I don't understand how so many on this thread can't grasp the concept of the season in Europe ending after Comm Games yet so many Euro-based names have been bandied around.

1. Wagstaff is the most overrated player I think I've ever seen. Should not be there on skill/what he brings alone. Let alone the fact he has reached his ceiling and is nearly 32.
2. "Just because Australia are going to win the gold shouldn't mean you still don't pick best available, two or three players should not be there starting with Hodgson ahead of DJ,"
Normally, I'd say NZ doesn't have a chance against a full-strength Australian team. But this team? Whilst NZ will lack depth, there's certainly enough there with Corey Webster, Fotu, Pledger, Abercrombie, Vukona and Tai Webster to give this Aus team a run for their money and have a chance.

Just because Australia are going to win the gold shouldn't mean you still don't pick best available, two or three players should not be there starting with Hodgson ahead of DJ,.

Nz are a much stronger squad also with Tai Webster and Fotu.

nz and canada are not tough opponents in the men's?

DJ must have taken a dump in the Boomers office or given Lemanis's daughter a neck tat or something because he can't get near the national team. He is OBVIOUSLY better than Hodgson.
AJ Ogilvy used to get snubbed when he was balling out now it is DJ.

I'm a Wildcat fan, but seriously Wagstaff and Brandt selected in front of Johnson.
Also, DJ is better than Kay and his back up Centre Hodgson gets selected.

Seriously without rose coloured glasses. DJ has out performed DK by some margin. All NBL first team 3 times (voted by coaches) Perhaps the best performed Australian over a 5 year period. Both are very consistent. DK consistently the worst defensive and rebounding big in the league. Consistently the best shooter but very little else.
Very careful with shot selection to protect %. Consistently a very important part of under performing teams since returning to NBL. DJ consistently performing at a high level over a number of years as recognised by his and other coaches. Arguably the best performed road player in the league. Check that out.
Andre can choose who he wants, doesn't change who is the best player. DJ will be performing in big games whilst DK will be putting up some numbers in a very low standard international comp. On another note. Its somewhat embarrassing that Matt Hodgson is the starting centre for Australia.

Seriously look at it without your rose coloured glasses on.
DJ is not a better stretch 4 than Kickert offensively. DJ does not offer the same leadership skills Kickert does.
Both DJ & Kickert struggle on the D end.
Sorry Kickert wins.

And did Lemanjis even watch any other NBL games as it appears not by some of his selections and then lets not mention Brisvegas Bullets.

Joyce - No Batkovic
No Joyce - Batkovic
Lemanjis - No DJ
When will DJ represent his country ?
When there is no Lemanjis
Seriously BA - Time to make some demands on your coaches. Surely it cannot be left to one person. Clearly there has been an issue is the Womens and now a similar scenario for the mens. It is shameful. Yes, shameful.
Be

Very unimaginative team, no young players at all, was to be expected, but three players out off bottom two teams plus Hodgson and Wagstaff it's looking very average and we should still win in a canter. Certainly won't get to many people excited to watch.

Isn’t Clydesdale injured?

How does Cadee get selected before Lisch.

What happened to Clydesdale and Garbin.
Whitcomb unlucky imo.

Wagstaff lol

zero Europe/NBA players. shows how much professional players care about the Com Games.

No Lisch or "money making" Mitch McCarron. Probably due to injury and Euro ventures. Either way not the strongest team I can imagine but should sleepwalk to gold here.

They really don't like Daniel Johnson do they??? SMH

From the Big V website today:
The Corio Bay Stingrays’ application for Big V membership was officially accepted by the clubs at the Big V Annual General Meeting held on the 13th of November.
Furthermore, the Stingrays will jump straight into the deep end, competing in the State Championship competition after the club announced a string of quality signings that will be more than up to the challenge that the Big V’s premier division provides.
The biggest announced signing at this point is one Jason Reardon. The former Geelong Supercat and 2010 Big V Division One MVP will be donning the Stingray teal in 2012 after playing with Corio Bay in the Country Basketball League the last few years.
Joining Reardon will be his 2011 Geelong teammate Paul Hutchinson who is currently the player/coach of the CBL side and will provide veteran leadership and on court savvy.
Add in former SEABL players with Mildura and Geelong James Walker and Luke Osborne plus local star Mark Trevaskis and you have a team that is shaping up to be ultra competitive in it’s rookie Big V season.
Head Coach Dan Riches is excited about the upcoming challenge with the acceptance into Big V competition putting the Stingrays on the map.
““In regards to our expectations this season, they are high. We are not underestimating the level of this league but we are also not in this thing to make up the numbers”, said Riches.
“With the list we have signed to date and the right import selection, we are aiming for a finals birth this year, a lofty ambition maybe- but were not participating... were competing”.
The Stingrays will certainly have to be ready to compete with players such as Ivan Platenik, Daniel Dillon & Jamal Brown dominating the State Championship competition last season. But with a strong pre-season put in place already, Corio Bay won’t look to be made silly- something the new head coach will simply not allow.
“Pre-season began last Thursday for our guys with the majority of our pre-Christmas program being conditioning. The enthusiasm and commitment from our signed group has been excellent. We have a few more pieces to add to our roster before Christmas and we will be casting our net far and wide to find the right additional guys”.
There is now a ready buzz down at Corio Bay with a true pathway for their juniors now forged. The Stingrays is on the rise and will see it’s program grow and prosper before it’s very eyes. Playing it’s home games out of the Life. Be in it Sports Centre in front of a dedicated fan base, it’s going to be a bright future for the association.
“The excitement for ‘Stingrays Basketball’ in the Greater Geelong Basketball region right now is amazing”, said Riches. "The Stingrays club is busting at the seams with excitement for the 2012 Big V season from our volunteers to our U12’s through to the seniors”.
