14 Charges - Game Review Panel

Two things I take is 1) are the fines that small that Drmic, Shorter and/or Sobey will get fined again in games 4 or 5, as they are absolute bafoons and play on the edge all the time.

2) are the players earning extra for making the grand final ? I ask as if the NBL wanted to put more in its coffers then the fines would be greater but they all seem minor.

Of all the punishments, Felix getting told to sit in the stands is the most amazing to me, that's only a punishment if he has to sit with 36ers members... during both games!

Should just eject Prather and Wesley at half time of game 4 and call it even. Same act, same punishment.

I think Sobey has already paid his price by missing the 2nd half...not fair that he has to also pay the fine the same as the others. NBL just embarrassed itself more with this - smh.
Hard for Adelaide to beat 9 with 5.

That's true Macdub but the Wesley head butt happened right in front of the refs face!

Sobey's mistake was doing it at HT which allowed the refs time to review before the 2nd half; notice that the Wesley headbutt was mid quarter so no opportunity to review.

It is a bit farcical.

They essentially found both headbutted; yet only one was ejected.

And I don't know if people can run the argument that 'Sobey's headbutt was worse and that's why it justified ejection' different from Prather - because from memory Prather 'headbutted' (as confirmed by the NBL) Sobey first; so arguably Prather's was 'worse'.

For it to be shown that Prather was rightfully not ejected vis-a-via Sobey; I would have thought the only way that was possible would be for the NBL to conclude that Prather did not headbut Sobey; but they have found that way?

To be fair, Sobey was a muppet for retaliating. He took it on the chin from Tai, and wasn’t phased it seems. Probably should’ve had a dive after Prather instead of risking himself. There’s a reason why Joey wasn’t impressed by him or Drmic with these antics. Hopefully we can get the win tomorrow though and head to Melbourne with a a vendetta

I'd be spewing if I was an Adelaide fan about all this, the reffing/officials decision making this season is getting beyond ridiculous.

Don't be ignorant. At least have a valid argument.

Just shows the incompetence of the refs. They call clean blocks fouls, get sucked in by flops, give techs when not warranted, etc, etc. The bizarre thing about Sobey decision is that all year any type of indiscretion involving two players, the refs have always been calling a double foul, one on each player, even when one of the players involved was an innocent bystander. Penalising just Sobey in that incident is very unusual for this season.
Although as this finals series goes on it seems not unusual for Melbourne's fortunes.

Prather's suspension should be reduced to half a game and fine if the league really wants to level it up after screwing Adelaide last night.

Right in front of him

Adelaide fans want a level playing field. So would fans of any other club. This series is becoming farcical.

Just no pleasing Adelaide fans it seems. No doubt they'll be taking this out on a few unfortunate Centrelink employees this week.

If Mayberry missed the Wesley head butt right in front of him and unobstructed why is he still a ref?

Dave Andersen (not Anderson) should be able to get off as they spelled his name wrong!

"Can't understand how they watched the Sobey / Prather incident on review yet only Sobey is ejected?"

Could it be from the "retaliation" point of view? It's not always the one who starts it that gets nailed, it's the guy that hits back.

Obviously the NBL recognises that Prather did the same thing, that's why he got the citation/fine.

Sobey retaliated and gets the same as Prather + ejection.

Dunno, strictly neutral here.

Years ago

Essentially this is an admission by the NBL that the referees missed the call on Wesley and Prather. They correctly ejected Sobey (by the report) and missed the other two calls. Otherwise the penalties wouldn't be equal.

If I was a 36er fan I would be livid

Nice tradition. This university has an annual game where the stadium remains quiet until their team scores its tenth point, then they erupt. Many costumed fans in attendance.
