Australia should beat NZ but I wouldn't be surprised if NZ win. Solid roster, good coaching staff plus they should have better chemistry with the familiarity of playing together with the breakers.
Bookies have NZ at $8 odds (Australia's $1.05), pretty surprised they're that high, existing a closer game than the odds suggest.

XY, Canada sent a full strength team to the world championships in 1994 they hosted... Rick Fix played I believe..

The Comm Games site is very easy to navigate
https://www.gc2018.com/sport/basketball

Dwight Powell
Kelly Olynyk
Andrew Wiggins
Jamal Murray
Cory Joseph
Tristan Thompson
Trey Lyles
Nick Stauskas
Dillon Brooks
Tyler Ennis
That bench 5 would challenge the Boomers starters(our real team not this NBL team).
Canada is arguably the second strongest FIBA team on paper but they don't seem to have players commit.

Has Canada ever sent a full strength squad to anything? FIBA America’s maybe? It always seems that their ranking is far lower than it should be given the quality of their top 10-15 guys.

The comm games is embarassing, when teams are sending much weakened squads..

I do wonder if the kiwis could actually win tomorrow night. they've got most of the breakers team there, plus henare coaching with fearne assisting. the aussies are cobbled together from all over the place and won't be as well drilled as the kiwi core.

Nz got a squad that beat us.

Commonwealth games awesomeness

Think I’ll keep referring to this tourney as CG 18.
Avg age of Canadian Guards and approximately CG’s shooting %.

Their 2nd best team may have made it interesting. It makes u wonder why they bothered putting a team in.

They sent therr 5ths... A bunch of college kids.
Would be like us sending the Vic metro state team.

Did canada send there best side? Hard to beleive the Boomers are a 40 points better side than Canada..
I suspect they sent there 3rds or half 2nds/half 3rds side..

"I don't care who these Canadian kids are. This Australian team isn't beating anyone by 32 points in 10 minute quarters."
Good call, that...

"Yes under 25/26 would've been good, no interest in most of the players selected, especially with Johnson and others left out."
I prefer the older side, I reckon we just need the best players out there no matter the age (no idea how Johnson isn't in though lol).
This is game the best promotion the NBL has had all year. Live on channel 7/73 on Friday night/arvo right before a blockbuster Carlton vs Collingwood game. The NBL has talked about alot during the broadcast. Hopefully some kids and people are watching at home and thinking 'huh some of these Aussie NBL players aren't too bad'.

looking like a good call there by anon

Martin's clearly been lying on the beach since the season finished he's never looked browner.
Boomers lead 47-29 at the half.

I like how the whole backboard, hoop and net system is the same in both Cairns and Townsville. NBL should take note

Yes, anything less than the gold would be seen as a failure but regardless Lemanis is contracted until the end of the 2020 Olympics so it's not like he'd lose his job over it if we underperformed here.

I'd have more interest if Australia's team was made up of college players too.

Yeah sorry meant 24.5 for those wanting to get on Aus (since OP mentioned the 31.5).
It's also not a bad little middle

It's frustrating from a recording POV that the game starts at 5:30, but the block that it's in on the TV guide ends at 6pm and a new one from 6-10pm or something... Doesn't fill me with a lot of hope that the broadcast will just show the game in its entirety...
