Tom fullarton Afl?
Thanks for the scoop. However, I think we all know that the AFL teams are very resourceful with their talent ID abilities. They approach, keep in contact, watch, assess, many basketball players and athletes from other sports who have skills or attributes that indicate they might be able to play AFL. Unfortunately some of the Basketball skills/attributes transfer really well - height, athleticism, decision making at speed, catching, structured plays, zones, coachability, etc. The young guys in NBL, NITP, State Programs/Teams, Aussie Junior teams, etc etc would probably all have been assessed by at least one AFL team at some stage. All in aid of trying to get ahead of the curve because of restrictions with the AFL draft.
They wouldn't be doing there job if they weren't trying to get these kids in their programs. Hugh Greenwood, Corey Maynard, Craig Moller, Ben Richmond, Micky Luxford, are just a few examples of many.
They focus more intently on those from AFL strong states - Vic, SA, WA, Tas & especially the ones who have played AFL as juniors and even more on those that have made junior State AFL teams - Wingard, Amon, Frost, Balic, Wilson, Grundy, Petracca, Tippett, Roughhead, Pendlebury, Hardwick, Pittonett, Watts, etc, etc.
I don't mind either way, it is the players choice their life, not our business really.
Good luck to the ones who jump to AFL & good luck to those that stick with or return to hoops.

Wow now we have the one cap letter Anon.....
Is he improving or is it a cousin of the first guy?

Heard six months ago that he was considering a move to AFL. Perhaps more appealing to Tom right now rather than biding his time and playing spot minutes for the next few years.

It wouldn't matter if they lost most games; it would be all about the experience.
And does anyone know the background to why they play in the WNBL but not the NBL?
