That sucks I was hoping Motum would join.
With Motum we could give Sydney a real challenge.

I'm guessing they bled money last year and the purse strings have tightened. Why else would you do anything but offer Creek a solid contract when you could've secured arguably the top Australian player to have another serious crack at the championship? Then play this awkward we're-due-a-transfer-fee card.

Melo Trimble would be nice.

Wiley is a done deal so that only leaves 2 spots, 1 of which is Teys. This leaves 1 spot to fill.
I highly doubt Motum will be returning to the 36ers this season.

Deleon is the wrong type of budget pg if you have a loaded front court. There are a ton of undersized pg imports playing in second tier European competitions who aren't earning the big bucks because they are just solid players running their team, think a better version of Jarrod Kenney.

Im standing by my Deleon mail. It may not happen but they've 100% reached out to him.

fair enough.

Red, yes they got it right last year and were talented at the same time, which i mentioned.
My point was that simply recruiting the best player you can to look the best doesn't always automatically equate to success predicted in pre season hype.
Does that help you at all?

Master Chief,
last year everyone said Melb were loaded and they ended up winning the title.
So im not sure what your point is?

It's not crazy. Both Gaze and JvG are not good at their roles. Plus they have signed old players who will be susceptible to injury. Get the popcorn out!

I'll believe Sydney are this unbeatable force when i see it. I don't think they've learnt anything on why balance is more iimportant that loading up. It is an impressive roster obviously. I think Melbourne learnt that last year with the way they constructed their bench.
It's interesting how until last year all the teams everyone declared unbeatable were the one's anchored the bottom of the table while teams like Adelaide and Wollongong have done so well again most expectations.Perth are always Perth. Same for NZ. But it took United a few years to get it right.
We seem to say this every year with Sydney. If Gaze can make it work, look out for sure! But I'm not convinced by them. Sounds crazy i know.

Probably because of all the Kings big money signings making the rest seem more underwhelming?

i agree with you that Wiley is an excellent signing that seems to have gone under the radar.

To be honest, i do kind of, maybe, suspect some sort of a collaborative beat up by people in the know here for whatever reason. Maybe there is a reason why this needs to be kept on the hush? I don't know.
If it is the case though that money is this tight, it does strike me as odd that they need to revisit a past import from a different time who is well into his thirties. You don't need to do that if you can only go budget. There's so many ways to pluck a diamond in the rough besides that. But if it is the case, so be it & welcome AD.
Also, am i right in saying that Adelaide attended the Summer League as per usual with the intention of scouting imports? It doesn't strike me as a seriously cash strapped kind of behaviour given what the likely cost of the trip is for the club. Wiley wouldn't be cheap either.
On that too, I've been surprised at the low level of hype for Wiley. It didn't seem that long ago that an NBL team signing an import who had played 5 NBA games the previous season, was enough to strike high levels of excitement in team supporters & intimidation into opposition. Import standards have obviously gone up since that time. But with NBA time & top European league experience under his belt, coupled with the rumour that he was in Melbourne's sights, it does strike me as a pretty significant get and worthy of more optimism.
I could be wrong about this suspicion obviously, but something seems a little funny about the import pg scenario...

Is Deleon the player, Isaac? If so it is going to be a long season.

Trice isn't coming to the 36ers.
Money is tight hence the Creek debacle

I deleted the troll post about Trice. No contact from the club (no one from there has contacted me for years).
Wasn't much of a Deleon fan at the Hawks. Maybe money is seriously tight.

also, how do they know its BS?

Mods, was it deleted, if so why?

where did the thread about Trice to 36ers go?

We weren't going to be contenders anyway with the loss of Creek but this would be a bit of a kick in the guts with shades of the disappointing Ebi Ere season all over again.

If it is Deleon you 6ers can kiss your title hopes goodbye. He's the NBL version of Monta Ellis, looks good at times but nothing about his game is condusive to winning.

AD would be my worst nightmare for an import PG...cheap or not, will turn fans and players away.

i know. im worried.

I believe so, yes

It's not Trice.
The player has the initials AD. Previously played for Joey......

Boti knows the name, maybe it’s a new face.
Would love Trice, fit in Joeys system well.

Trice is not the word! You made that up.

A few observations from the game:
- Perth are a great ball club on both ends of the floor. They don't need the help they get from the refs. Call it evenly, please, the Cats will still win.
- I'm getting pretty sick of Eddie Gill. 1/7 from the field to go with zero assists, and routinely getting burned by Robbins, Lisch and Martin, in what is becoming a pretty standard line from the former NBA point guard. Guy needs to quit shooting bad shoots, over-dribbling, turning the ball over like there's AIDS on it, and passing the goddamn ball with more than 10 seconds on the shot clock. At this point the Crocs are a much better team with second year PG Chris Cedar running the offense, on both ends of the floor.
- Damien Martin was on PCP or something. Dude was everywhere. Had no idea he could jump like that...
- At this point the Crocs season series split over the Blaze & Cairns might be a curse. If they finish in third, which is likely, they will have to face Perth in the first round and will get molested. If they finish fourth they face NZ, who they can beat, even if it's a long shot.
- If Ben Allen is in a Crocs uniform next season I'm not renewing my season tickets. We are one big man away from being able to be (on the lower end of)competitive with the contenders (ie. NZ & Perth), and that big man is what Allen was SUPPOSED to be. Give his money to a proper basketball player who doesn't care about his hair more than winning.
- I know there are a lot of things to hate about ONE, but why do they present the game as if it is "live"? Why can't we skip through all the crap, most of us have to work the next day, and are staying up late enough as it is.
