Sixers vs Cairns game thread
Thanks for the compliments on the photos :)
Now, on to the next game...

Marc Howard from the NBL has stated that the final score is 92-90 in favour of the Sixers but with a complaint pending from the Taipans. The final score has to be the final score regardless of the outcome. The Sixers have put up with their fair share of shit calls from the umpires while the other team have had a benefit from it. It happens all the time, you take the good with the bad. If umpires can't make a decision between the time the game ends and the time the players have left the building, then there cannot be a decision other than that already made.
How fair is it that Black had his players continuously warming up after the Sixers left building and then expecting them to come back? What an unfair advantage that would have been for his team and a tremendous disadvantage to the Sixers. They were alread hyped up over the win only to be told to come back because you really hadn't won. This is absolute absurdity at its worst.

I bet you we (Adelaide) end up getting screwed out of this. It isn't Cairns fault, but if the refs are supposed to have the final say, then Cairns has no case.
I feel for Alan Black but the fact that the call was wrong really doesn't make a difference. Anyone who watches a game of NBL basketball knows that the referees don't EVER come close to getting everything correct, so why should this be any different?
If the league imposes a forfeit on Adelaide then the response from the Sixers should simply be "F*CK OFF". Surely there has to be a time limit, and if a decision can't be reached by the time it takes to get 10 players and a half a dozen support staff from the court and back to their hotel, then any subsequent decision cannot possibly have any credibility.
Like I said, I feel very sorry for Cairns, but this should ABSOLUTELY not cost Adelaide.

Probably should be played as a mini game after their next clash to simulate fatigue :-) Carry the stats from this game fouls etc :-)

Just to recap one ref Vaughn Mayberry called the basket good? Thats enough for me :-) Wishfull thinking.

Ok decision has been made, there was a shot clock violation with .7 of a sec left.
Score is locked at 90 each.
The game will continue with .7 secs on clock. If at the end of that there is a draw there will be overtime
From Daisan at the game - ozhoops boards

Ouch admin - that is harsh - showered cooled down - probably in recover mode already!!!
So 7 seconds to go and one would presume Taipans possesion.
So I guess it is the Sixers turn to complain now as to why they were allowed to leave the stadium in the first place - how much warmup time will they get etc etc!!!
The NBL has just opened a nightmare for them!

Is this were the problem occured on nbl scoreboard
4th Period Taipans 36ers
10:42 36ERS - Basket made by [7] M. Nash 90 92
10:42 36ERS - Basket made by [11] D. Cooper 70 71
thus meaning this basket
00:05 36ERS - Basket made by [45] D. Rychart 90 94
00:05 36ERS - Basket made by [45] D. Rychart 90 92
should be 92-90 and if taken away makes it 90 all.

I think the problem here is that one ref called it in and 2 said it was late - not sure but I would think Vaughn would be a senior/head ref - so who makes the ruling - does it come down to the head ref or 2 vs 1? plus the scorebench and crowd all backing the home team :-)

Ok so the home town scorebench thought that the clock had expired - unfortunately as far as I know the referees make that call and can check with the bench if they are not confident in their decission - for Vaughn Mayberry to over rule/disagree with the bench than he must be confident in what he saw.
Wins a win - ouch there will be some fire in the next clash.

Surely if the players had already left to the rooms the score is finalised? %-?
If there is something going on Phil would be going CRAZY right about now!
Maybe its just the Taipans scorebench screwing with us all :-)

No OT NO controversy.
Unless of course NBL scoreboard is screwing with us AGAIN!!?!?!?!?!?!?! and they have stuffed 2 points up somewhere earlier?

Correction they have taken Dusty's 2 points with 5 secs to go off thus 92-90 sixers win.
This is how it went
02:13 36ERS - Free throw made by [45] D. Rychart 82 92
01:44 TAIPANS - 3pt basket made by [20] G. Boodnikoff 85 92
01:05 TAIPANS - 3pt basket made by [13] D. Mee 88 92
00:29 TAIPANS - Basket made by [33] M. Thomas 90 92
Looks like this was a 24 second shot clock violation - wonder who for taipans took the last shot with 5 seconds? Have to be Mee or Cat if he got open.
00:05 36ERS - Basket made by [45] D. Rychart 90 94
00:05 36ERS - Basket made by [45] D. Rychart 90 92

BTW NBL website is now saying 92-90 Sixers win - crucial basket with 6 or 7 seconds to go by Dusty!!

Wouldnt mind have seeing the Brisbane vs Tigers game - Anstey 23 & 11, Thomas 16 & 4 Tucker 17 & 11 vs Bradtke 24 & 9, Mackinnon 14 & 10, Copeland 19 & 1.

Cairns scoreboard has us winning by 2 NBL has us up by 4 with 5 seconds to go.
Cairns scoreboard manual comments section showing Full Time Score Adelaide wins!!! :-)
1-1 for that road trip is a good result.

4.26 to go and 4 points the difference. I can't look any more its getting too unbearable. Go Sixers.

10:42 36ERS - Basket made by [11] D. Cooper 70 71
10:22 36ERS - Basket made by [9] W. Farley 70 73
09:53 36ERS - Basket made by [12] J. Holmes 70 75
09:24 36ERS - Basket made by [12] J. Holmes 70 77
Not a bad 8-0 run to force a taipans time out.

Taipans scoreboard seems to have frozen for me? Has Taipans 70 36ers 67 1min left in the 4th
NBL is showind Taipans 70 36ers 77 9:28 left in the 4th. Considering the time that has gone it would have to be closer to the NBL one than the Taipans one. Hoping too :-)

Half time around the league today - Dusty 17pts & 11 rebs, Anstey 17pts 5 rebs & 1 assist, Newley 17pts, 2 rebounds & 5 assists.
