BSA Junior Finals

Lucky loser formats are awful and defeat the purpose of playoffs - the intensity of play due to it being sudden death.

at the end of the day one team gets it done and the other doesn't - got to put it on the court game time.

Friday night was a disgrace for BSA and it is only dumb luck that both players and spectators got through the night without a serious injury at Morphettvale. Being crammed in with 4 courts in operation and no adequate seating or clearance between the court and spectators showed a serious lack of duty of care for all involved. Adding to the pathetic programming where a team, that lost only a couple of games in the season can be eliminated after 1 final just shows how little idea those at BSA actually have.

Intriguing that Sturt complain when usually they get to play there finals at Pasadena. Accept you werent good enough on the night.

In terms of Junior finals couldn’t we have had finals on Friday night and Sunday ? Most clubs train on Sundays anyway ??

To be fair to the new BSA CEO he inherited a basket case . He deserves a chance to try and sort out the mess that is BSA.

If SA wants credibility in Basketball the Winter Season and State Championships needs to be run the same as Nationals and Premier League when it comes to finals. It use to be this way and it made the finals series interesting and less predictable. It also prepares players and coaches for that next level of Club Championships, Classic, ECC, SCC, Nationals and beyond. The players and coaches are robbed of the opportunity to play in a professional competition where their efforts are taken seriously. I feel the leadership lacks respect for players and coaches and the enormous amount of time sacrificed to train and play their sport. This is at the expense of many other activities they could be doing but they commit all year unlike most sports that are seasonal so should be rewarded with the opportunity to experience a full finals series. Parents give an enormous amount of money via their clubs to BSA and at the door to run a professional basketball league but they are not offered a professionally scheduled competition. The removal of pro relegation and the Increasing number of changes not only in summer but also winter to address divisional issues is alarming. The drop out rate for girls and lowering numbers is of great concern as well. Then we get to the removal of 2nd division 2 teams removal from the state championships, the backfilling of teams in regular competition or splitting of divisions in the first 5 weeks and the opportunity for more talent to be identified and an even greater level of competition to assist with development by playing against the unknown. Even the merchandising at state championships where young players are excited about getting their state champs jumpers and the pride that goes with wearing it and the inspiration to other players to work hard, move up a division and have the opportunity to participate in the next state championships is all disappearing. I feel there is a perception that it has become all about the employees, the referees, the door staff, the high performance group who seem to be just looking for the next big thing or a predetermined group about and not in the best interest of the state as a whole with an emphasis on team first and trying to get the win over showcasing specific players at the expense of all the playing group and the results. It just all lends itself to the criticisms that suggest that the organisation tasked to run a professional competition just doesn’t care about the customer, that is the players and the coaches. That is poor business and loyalty customers are ready to walk. Time for a change to a customer focused business model that means engagement, what does the customer want, what are they willing to pay for to keep their loyalty. But it seems loyalty may already be lost and a new Customer focussed business is about to raise its head and offer a better product. Lets hope either way the players are the winners in it all.

Staff that service country regions such as referee development, JDO’s and NITP comes from revenue generated by metro competitions.

As do the venues they play country carnivals in.

Years ago

How does SA Country benefit from Metro revenue when Country players pays metro to be affiliated as well as paying SA Country affiliation
I can’t think of anything country gets from metro ?

I can’t wait for the clubs to run the comp , just tell me does anyone believe the clubs will act in the best interest of basketball in the state or it will it just be all about their individual clubs.
It’s a disaster waiting to happen . The problem in this state is not so much BSA staff or CEO but more the commission itself. Get the right people in charge their and we may have a chance

Cut summer back to one round and give everyone a decent break , and play a decent winter finals series , why bother playing 2 full rounds and then half a finals series

the sooner Basketball Adelaide and the Clubs run their own competition the better.

BSA are a trian-wreck..

it's been 2 weeks for a 2-3 months now. Depends on your situation if you need a break, some teams dont make finals and may have a 5-6 week break. Where a team going to U14 club champs return a week or two before summer. Best to manage on a individual basis and clubs manage groups etc on an individual basis - some want to train other need a break. I was trying to fins out when summer season starts. Oct 18th or 25th ?
