Day 1 - NBL Blitz
Don't forget JvG and even further above - Lister hiring JvG. Duds making bad decisions at every level.

Violet Crumbles:
Gaze can't coach
Lisch can't shoot (any more)
Kickert can't defend a chair
Wear can't play
Bogut - great player with knees held together by sticky tape
This team is balls

Wiley looked really solid, but I don't think he's going to be grabbing 15 rebounds if a guy like Boone is in the game. I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong though.

I don't read too much into the blitz. markel starks was mvp of the blitz 3 years ago. ugh.

That was me.
And Wiley 12 points, 15 rebounds is the other stat line that jumps out.

I don't pay much attention to Blitz results, but individually, it's good to see big games from two guys who are tipped for big improvement in United vs Adelaide- Deng and Moller- Deng 16 and 7, Moller 15 and 5.

When your Next Gen player is better than your import, you've got problems.

Ive seen plenty of Sydney so far this preseason, and they are yet to play a well rounded 4 quarters. The mix of the team is well off. Randle can play with just about anybody, and Newley looks great. Lisch continues his downward spiral, even if they still laud him as an MVP type.
I think another role playing center would be good either alongside Bogut or when he is in foul trouble, or injured. Illawarra and Cairns got some use out of Delvin Johnson, Michael Holyfield and Nnana Egwu. Sydney don't need a soft big man like Wear for that type of role.

If the Randle and Bogut screen doesn't work, offence looks lost - with no second, 3rd options.
Jeff Wrong Again is wrong again: Wear, at best, is worse than a local Australian player, not an import. The signing made no sense when they have cut/not resigned Ellis or Whittington.
Kings Barely scrapped through against a team without Jawai and Walker.

Adnam again unbelievable. Bowen amazing. Fortunately for the Kings, the bench was exceptional, and probably won it for them. Lisch 3 missed lay ups and shot 3 air balls - not even close.

Jeff Van Groningen is a horrible recruiter. does he just play blackjack the whole summerleague? David Wear is horrible!

HOw bad are the Taipans. Kings will win the game but they are terrible as well.
It's only preseason but sheeeesh the Kings should belt the Tapains by 30 + surely with the Million$ they are spending.

Jett isn't a new import, he played for Townsville about 5 years ago.
All reports about Wiley have been positive, so that's a good sign. I feel like he will need to be MVP level for us to compete this year, so it's a good start.

Have seen all his games with Sydney, and save for the first month or two of 2016-17, Lisch has clearly lost his shot. Most of the misses don't even look close.
I'd hope to see Newley get back to starter minutes and Lisch spend longer periods on the bench.

All 3 Taipans imports look good, Jett & Wiley probably the best new imports I've seen. Didn't see the NZB game but Long put up good numbers.
I would've thought Wear or De Leon first cut but if Adris keeps bringing that energy he will be a nice piece.

If Wear can't finish this tournament avg at least 8ppg, its over for him as a King. The signing made zero sense when announced. The guys they have cut/not resigned over the past 2 years, Tyler, Ellis, Whittington, Powell, Leslie, even Blake, Wear is not as good as any of them. He's Michael Bryson bad.

For those who are watching, how does the import crop look this year?
Any early standouts? Any that look like they won't last here long?

Impressive win over United that even if only a preseason game. I was surprised by the energy of De Leon and Wiley looks like a beast.

For those who have signed back up to NBL TV, can Blitz games be watched on demand?

Hmm, Mitch Creek not specifically required back on the roster; that guy with the termite-mound hairpiece could help out Melbourne quite a bit,

Tigers aren’t coming back. League is growing. This isn’t a coincidence.

From the lineup graphics in the live feed, it looks like Drmic is out? Anyone know of any injury issue?

The Twitter feed is really dark and looks to be in SD. It's certainly not a low-bitrate mess by any means, but it's not great. The feed to NBL TV is HD and much brighter.

Hawks 91, Bullets 69.
Jett 17, Coenraad 12 and 6, Andersen 12 and 6
Cadee 15 and 4 AST, Bairstow 11, Holt 9
Hawks 23-10 in the final quarter.

Can't take credit for this, friend alerted me to the glut of athletic PG's in the league right now, and how 'athletic'is a curse for the longevity of any point guard in the NBA.
Francis, Iverson, Marbury, Robert Pack (????!!!)
All 'athletic' and all had carrers OVER by 30.
Stockton, Kidd, Billups and Nash all playing into their late 30's and relevent while doing so.
Rose, Westbrook and Wall....the writing is on the....well....wall. (sorry)
My source basically said, these guys have only a set amount of jumps in those legs...the amount is getting less every day...
Williams, Paul, Rubio, will all be playing long after the athletic types are G.O.N.E.
Should longevity come into play when paying a player? or does it matter when most players spend their prime 5-8 yrs at a club before being traded?
Add Rondo to that list, when his athleticism goes, he will be the least productive point in the L.

Wonder who thought it would be a good idea to have a team in dark blue play a team in black? Hard to tell who is who on the link above.

The server continually rejects my attempts to pay the $5 to get it to run, so I'd say there are definitely issues. The pq on Twitter is not worth watching.

Anyone having trouble with the app?

Winners: Illawarra, Perth, Melbourne, Cairnes
