FIrst Ever ad

What a joke if so. On the bright side at least First Ever can fail ASAP this season and then we can get a real apparel sponsor and finally nice looking jerseys and revamped club logos to go with them.

Surreeeeely the NBL could land Adidas or Nike as their jersey sponsor instead of this shit. I know it's LKs business but think of the amount of merch you would sell with these big names marked on them. I don't own an NBL jersey but I certainly would if Nike or Adidas were on it

Give the fans what they want with some good jerseys for once. Some nice nba quality, they would sell more Hawks jerseys than First Ever’s total clothes sales

Back in 80/90's these sneaker companies were operated differently.
They were run in each state by independent distribution companies (I know nike was here in SA 20+ years ago).

you've seen the Callum Murray Dare Ice Coffee ad, right? When they were picking out a name for this horrorshow surely someone stood up and said "first ever? worst ever mate, think of something else.."

In the late 80s/early 90s various clubs were with Nike/adidas/Reebook. Sixers also were adidas five years ago?

You kind of know their target market is overweight, baldy middle aged men (not unlike myself...) who had a (red) MGB in their youth and want to re-live that sensation of the wind blowing through your hair, young chicky babe in the passenger seat driving through the Adelaide Hills picnic basket in the back.

Jump in the MG to get away from the Nagasaurous wife, pickup the girlfriend, take her to a fancy lunch place, make sure she has organised her teenage daughter to have a sleepover at a friends house, then have dessert

I don’t think Nike would sponsor anything to with Australian Basketball, Basketball is an after thought here doesn’t generate money here even though they sponsor Ben Simmons etc...
Adidas maybe they’re trying to get a bigger market share here for Basketball.
I think this is the reason Peak sponsor the national programs and we end up with the local distributor of Mitchell & Ness doing the last couple of year and now FE because they’d be willing to offer more than the big two.
Be interesting if Puma try here now they are back in Basketball

Seriously, looking at those ads the product they could be selling could be anything. The music is annoying and I was waiting at the end for some husky voiced female voiceover to announce:

"Melbourne's finest discrete adult parlour, where anything can happen and your pleasure comes First Ever"

NBL K-Mart brand is a winner, FE a joke.

No surprise which one the father is in control of and which one the son. Like night and day.

I believe the name "first ever" is a nod to the fact this is Justin's first ever business that he's in charge of.

I don't have a problem with him starting a clothing brand and trying to break into the junior sporting uniforms market but would prefer the NBL gear to be affiliated with the Nikes of this world.

Love your appraisal there, Jack Toft. I think the girls are pretty though, and probably the best thing about the ad. I think I saw the Islander-looking girl feign a smile for a moment - a rarity in modeling.

And all models have that "my shit don't stink" vibe that is irritating. In the NBL clothing ad they all kind of stand there like a bunch of maladjusted and privileged brats that you just want to slap.

As for the prices, it's as though they thought that by charging top-end prices they'd be seen as a top-end brand. But you have to actually BUILD that credibility and a bunch of overpriced, cheaply made knock off jumpers in bland colors is not going to get it done. I would be genuinely surprised if anyone who is not a friend or family member of Kestleman has bought a single First Ever "Athwear" piece.

In other news, though, I've noticed that the K Mart NBL brand has been doing okay in some areas. The shorts and shirts seem to be used a lot at local rec centers, and I've seen a lot of people in lower socio-economic areas with the bags, T shirts, jumpers etc. The K Mart brand is hardly a glossy brand but it fills a clear need that was in the broader community for cheap basketball and bumming-around clothing. No doubt the K Mart brand will have made more in their first year than First Ever will for anything outside of NBL jerseys.

I'ld love to actually know what the marketers were thinking, and who exactly their target market is.

The hint always comes in the selection of models as this is always a hint of who they target.

The models come across as spoilt little brats with attitude they can't back up. The boys look like soy boys who would pick a fight and then go running to mommy after they got smacked in the nose. The girls look like they have walked off the set of Mean Girls and their aspiration in life is to be the decoration for some fat hairy balding business man old enough to be their father.

Who do they think actually makes the buying decision?

I would be interested in why they chose the name too. First Ever. FE. F Everyone?

I usually ignore anything that gets over-hyped or over-played cos it’s usually a bad deal, whether it’s a movie or fashion or food.

Good product doesn’t need an advertising blitz these days - social media lets everyone know the good stuff quickly enough.

I’ve started recording the games so I can FF thru the ads cos they give me the shits.

No worse than betting agency ads in my opinion and I doubt I would have even noticed the ad if I hadn't read all the posts on hoops complaining about it before first seeing it.

I've grouped them by position rather than alphabetically. Might be some grumblings about positions, but I figured Ingles and Creek are Guard-Forwards as much as some others and put them in that block.
