WNBL Round 3
^ Yep, I definitely like those picks. They're choosing well this season.
(Taking into account that they're trying to keep TOTW something resembling a starting 5 in a league where the bigs have been dominant)

The thing with Heal is that she's the 10th player on roster and that's it. So thats a lot of guards for not a lot of depth. Definitely a project player, who I doubt will stay West in two years time tbh but who really knows. It's actually crazy how many ball handlers Perth have given all of McPhee/Farnworth/Schwagmeyer can play forward.

On paper so would I, but in new Lynx era we have done a great job of getting the most out of our players regardless of prior reputation. Credit to Andy Stewart for that. Pre-season I was thinking 7th for this team, which still might turn out to be the case but at least I can count on effort and entertainment value from this team. We had no business winning by 25 in Dandenong yesterday.
Re. Heal the original word was 6-10 weeks I think, and I haven't heard anything since. (I'm guessing that this was only ever going to be an introductory type season for her anyway - i.e. lowish minutes assuming everyone else stays healthy, so it's not the same impact as if we had lost a main rotation player)
Going to say that Taylor/Coffey/Batkovic are locked into TOTW and the POTW will come from there, maybe Taylor because she did it across two games.
Yep, I like that. McPhee was by the standout single game performer last round but Griffin was rightly rewarded for doing it twice. I think Asia should be this week.
I hope Wilson or Smart get a spot in TOTW despite losing to the Fire. They were both tremendous.

I'd take a fully fit
Mitchell
Wilson
Nurse
Wallace
Rocci
over
Mansfield
Heal
Ebzery
Schwagmeyer
Farnworth
Mcphee

Ebzery (Opals)
Mansfield (Opals)
McPhee (Import)
Heal (Sapphires)
... along with two very good veterans in Farnworth and Schwagmeyer who can both play at SG.
If the Lynx guards can find the form that made them Opals, is there a better guard rotation in the league?

That's right, the Lynx still have Heal to come into that already impressive back-court (on paper at least).

2020 - just need 2. (Don't think anyone is a lock atm)
Hurst 83 (37)
Wilson 85 (35)
Mitchell 85 (35)
Mansfield 89 (31)
Lavey 93 (27)
Clydesdale 93 (27)
Donnelly 94 (26)
Mangakahia 95 (25)
Wallace 96 (24)
Rocci 98 (22)
Conti 99 (21)
Heal 01 (19)
Converted pgs (who are really sgs)
Ebzery 90 (30)
Seekamp 92 (28)
Tupaea 97 (23)
Etc

Maddi Allen block party by the look of it!

Yeah Mansfield has been super crap this season in the 23 minutes she has played since recovering from the injury. Only 6 assists in that time. Terrible.

All the opals guards have been crap.
Mitchell, Mansfield, ebzery, Madgen and Lavey.
When's walllace back?
How's Whitcomb doing in Europe?

Wow when Perth are hot they can sure score. Impressed with their rebounding too, you can have plenty of opportunities to chuck it up if you keep getting the ball.
Shame about Bendigo, but looking back their first two weeks their shooting percentage looked unsustainable. Hopin they're able to still get a win here or there.

LOL. Should not have posted that!
Lucky for Rangers that game was not live streamed. They were terrible in that second half capitulation.
Credit to the Lynx, they out hustled and outplayed the Rangers.
Brittany McPhee was brilliant, as was Asia Taylor as expected. But Bec Cole played a shocker, after a promising start, Carley Mijovic went missing, Tessa Lavey was unable to make a shot and Pederson was outdone.
The Lynx guards shut down the Rangers back court and it was all over.

Howsabout dem Lynx! 90-65
Wonder if the Rangers saw it coming and that's why they cancelled the live stream :p

Brassard is away coaching the Australian U19s team.

Sydney Flames have to let AJ go, she’s clearly not up to the WNBL standard, Wilson looked really good in PG position today. Flames needed more than Smart & Wilson to get the sneaky W in the Ville! Fire would be disappointed with the lack of production they’re getting from Madgen & Garbin at present.

Anyone know where Claudia Brassard is?

Nice AshT, that's quite a lot more than I expected. Does show the health of the league quality wise.

^ Have to start somewhere. Plus I have watched streamed games where the audience was several hundred, not 50.

I think an English speaking, great weather, relatively safe country and good standard of competition are a big plus for getting USA recruits here.

What the hell happened? Those stat lines and scores are cray!
AshT, more an open question but on the subject of WNBA, how many players in our league right now have WNBA experience?

61-34 first half and then we very nearly choked it away.
That game was seriously cray.

Mitchell... fantastic...
Certainly not what she used to be.

Not really that unexpected. Melbourne looked good last week once they got rolling. Stacked roster so it was only a matter of time.
Barb Turner in the house and warming up with the Spirit.

Alexander must be close to playing for Adelaide

Yeah Dandy are great. Going to be weird next season with no Suzy or Snell!

Haha very true. Dandy are the OGs of the WNBL streaming game. Love their work and look forward to the Rangers-Lynx game. Should be an entertaining, up-tempo affair.

Dandenong vs Perth will be streamed live online via Fox Sports Live
Is this free to watch?
Yep the streamed games are free to watch, and they're not geo-blocked either. Handy also that they're always found at the same place:
Fox Sports Live Page
Fingers crossed that we've seen the last of the technical issues with the streaming

Belinda Snell has this morning announced she is retiring at the end of the season. She joins Suzy Batkovic as legends of the game to finish up at season end.

Jackson is currently in L.A., rehabbing from knee replacement surgery. He’s also recently had his spine fused and artificial hips inserted, and he’s feeling good physically. But despite his 1,155 career wins and 11 championships, more than any other coach in the history of American pro sports, no one has expressed interest.
“It hurts,” a Jackson confidante told Berger. “People need to know he is not dead, and he is not 70.”
Jackson is still a young buck at 66.
