South east Melbourne disappointment

Yinka Dare You mean like a wolf with a safety vest?

I guess this team is the first to form from the NBL ashes pre-LK. Maybe the name is just a giant pisstake in that regard

I actually quite like the colours, name and logo. But I can understand how you might be disappointed if you were a Magic or Tigers fan and were hoping for a revival. Its Melbourne United that's f#cked it up really. They've taken the Tigers franchise, made it sound like an A-League club and stolen the dark colour of the old Magic teams. If I lived in Melbourne I'd get behind the Phoenix over United for sure!

Boohoo, so what colours then. Black, red, blue, orange, Lakers purple/yellow are taken. Bbl seems to be doing well in terms of teams having wide variety of colours, even pink, and most don't align with traditional state colours.

My daughter has a new netball in melbourne to support. Oh its.. a basketball
team! WTF!
What was the nbl thinking! And the colour. My son and I will keep wearing our
Mel Tigers singlet.

the Phoenix going to be a big money club or the next Illawarra hawks

After the election, won't a lot of Melbourne be Green anyway? Is the NBL trying to get the Green voters to support them?

But the colour green doesn't seem very Melbourney
You have a lot of social justice warriors in Brunswick crying into their soy lattes

Well, no other team has green in the NBL.
There is the Melbourne Phoenix in netball...Wellington Phoenix in A-League soccer.
Can appreciate the Phoenix name as a resurrection of all the former teams to play in the NBL from the SE corridor, but I kind of thought something new would have been more apt.

In this age of gen y parents giving kids atrociously spelled names I think it would have been way more "lit" to call the team the Feenyx

Channel 9 had a story on Cadee arriving in town for a few days. Great to see him talk up the team and great to see the CEO looking respectable. (where the hell is that green jumper Mr Hill?)
He said he was in town for a bit, then full pre-season starts in about a month.
