Perth at Cairns - 17 November, 2018 - Game discussion thread
ROFL, nice one Camel.

Perth left 3 players behind because they had 3 in already Cairns with whistles.
Whilse we are picking and choosing....
Why don't you also blame Trimble for deliberately fouling at the end of Q1 whilst in the bonus? Thats also worth one point.
Why don't you also blame Trimble for trying to call a fking time out on the floor to avoid the 5 seconds?
The Tech on Jervis was equally silly and cancels out the Nate one.
The Wildcats did everything to give Cairns the win including leaving 3 of 5 starters out, 1 of which was their second highest scorer.
Then there was the Cotton brain fade, even in OT with Jervis (another starter) lost (thats four) Cairns still managed to find a way to fk it up.
In the meantime, Nate (who was supposed to be 15 kilos leaner and fitter than his Wildcats days) could hardly get across half way.
Accept didn't play well enough to close it out.
Lose with (some) graciousness please.

Perth left 3 players behind because they had 3 in already Cairns with whistles.
Absolute joke tech on Nate when Jervis knocked it out of his hand. That alone gift point means Taipans win with 4 point play at the end.
Newbill lands in court when he catches the ball, another stitch up by macho ref. Kay carry's the ball in first half on the break(no call) Waxy funmbles ball on the break it's a carry.
Watch the replay and deny that Perth weren't given that game!

Koberklutz for the fail...
Cats actually ask their fans to wear pink for the Breast Cancer game.

Thanks Gordon,
Good to Know. Great community by Cairns then.
and nice to get a sensible reply.

More a strategic decision than a dumb play.It was a dumb strategic decision, though.
And yeah, I figured when the rules came out there would be an interesting adjustment period in terms of late-game strategy. Advancing the ball isn't terrible, as if you score you're in the same situation just with less clock. But fouling...no. That was a huge error, and were it not for Cotton suddenly turning stupid it would've directly cost them the game.
Everyone involved in that game should receive lifetime bans from all of professional sport.

I've never met a hone period
But I do care about how ugly the uniform is - the home one anyway, since that's the one I'd potentially buy unless it is too ugly (which in recent seasons, Perth's has been IMO). Could hardly care less about the away white though.

Absolutely no idea why certain people seem to care so much about uniform colours. same stupid BS comments every year:
1. team x looks crap in white
2. what's with these shitty uniforms this year?
3. why doesnt the league care about 'presentation'
4. why hasn't anyone called adidas/Nike/etc.?
5. sponsor panels are too big/small/badly placed
I've never met a hone outside this forum who gives two fucks about any of this.

Why get all your fans turned out in Orange, then wear some weird two-tone Grey? Why get all your fans turned out in red, then wear some weird pink?
PS: Hate seeing Cats in white. That's nice.

Why get all your fans turned out in Orange, then wear some weird two-tone Grey?
"Blackout Night" is in aid of the IFYS Foster Care program. The uniforms are auctioned off after the game and the proceeds go to IFYS. All uniforms were sold, even those that were not played in.

Why get all your fans turned out in Orange, then wear some weird two-tone Grey?

Let's not forget about the two Taipans five-second violations to cap off one of the stupidest games ever.
On the second one Melo was trying to call timeout on the floor.

Would be interested to speak to both coaches around their strategy in that situation though, possibly some confusion around the new rules? You wouldn't think so but two bits of interesting strategy if they knew.

More a strategic decision than a dumb play. It's something you see in Europe, they'll foul at some strange times because they want the ball in their hands to control the clock late in games. I don't have a problem with that decision, even though it's not what I would do, but fouling Cotton wasn't the best idea.

The foul with 23 seconds to go was planned in a timeout, it didn't happen in the heat of the moment. Easy choice for dumbest play.

Trimble deliberately fouls with about a second to go in the first quarter with his team in the bonus. I think that was the dumbest play of the night, even though there was stiff competition and LV would tell you the resulting point wasn't worth very much ;-).

- Cairns fouls down two with a ten-second difference between the shot clock and the game clock
- Cotton fouls a three-point shooter up four
- Wagstaff throws the ball out of bounds
- Hall throws the ball out of bounds
Easily the stupidest 30 seconds of basketball I've ever seen.

Everyone rightfully talking about how much of a dumbass Cotton is.
But why is no one mentioning those ghastly rags Cairns were wearing? My eyes are bleeding.

I'm liking that Hire is getting back on the boards, he has really stepped up in the absence of the 3 starters.
But not sold on his perimeter defence, and I just cry every time he jacks up a 3.
Why do we persist in those plays?
He, Vague, and even Wagstaff, just so much more effective in the paint.
Very ugly game to watch, and not sure how much longer Perth can keep this up.
Are we going to get anyone back for next week?
How much longer can our luck hold out, without some backup. Lucky Jervis lasted as long as he did, cos all it will take is an early foul-out, or an in-game injury, and we'll be stuffed.
And oh, for the record, Norton has saved our arse big-time in Martin's absence.
You have to give full credit to a guy that was prepared to come across and start on the bench.

Its not a bitch, didn't see it live myself, but its a really bad miss, it's a fact, it was blatant, it happened. Took a shot a united actually in relation to their asking for the game because of a bad call...

Watch the replay melo trimble double dribbles when he passes the ref before that buzzer beater!!!! Check the nbl fb page, clear as day!! Guess the difference between perth and Melbourne is perth won anyway

Can't get my name out yo mouth

I'm sure they're over the moon about the big three of Kenny, DKD and Walker

Greg Hire 13 boards and gets the gig alongside Gleeson at the press conference, even though Norton has done everything that Trev arksed.

That game was muy loco.
We gave you every chance, Cairns. We left most of our starters in Perth, we gave you OT, we gave you half our previous season's roster... what more could we have done??

If it was wortho then I don't think he even has an upstairs. He is what's known as a single storey dwelling.

The only reason cotton tried to stay with trimble was because they are battling it out for the scoring title in the league. 100% if that was any other player on court cotton would have just let them go. Selfish cotton almost cost his team the game.
Funny point from the game was when the dopey sounding commentator not sure what his name is said in overtime to get jawai back in the game after his man just scored the first 10 points for perth in the extra period. Jawai was a disgrace how unfit and slow he was getting beaten in every way imaginable.
Beaten by a back cut
Beaten by being out rebounded on the offensive end
Beaten by jump shot
Beaten by driving straight past him because he is too slow on the close out
Beaten by hook shot in the post
That was all in the first 3 minutes of overtime and that commentator wanted him back on the court. Is there something wrong upstairs with that bloke?

haha maybe next time i will type with my glasses on

A win is a win, but not the best way to get tit.

Wildcats have had a pretty lucky schedule with the injuries so far, I'd say.

What a terrible basketball spectacle.

I'd like to see Hall's shooting % inside the key when contested for the season. Feels like he's at about 0%.

Both the delay of games were terrible, but at least they were consistent i guess.

Sheesh. That tech foul on Jervis was a bit rough.
