Illawarra v Adelaide
drimic lucky... third man in....andersen in trouble ...imo...

More fun:
The NBL Game Review panel is also reviewing an incident between Nathan Sobey and David Andersen in the third quarter of yesterday's game between Illawarra and Adelaide. A decision on whether charges will be laid will be made tomorrow.

I thought Drmic came in more aggressively to a later incident than Coenraad did to that one. To cop that and then something subjective like a flop warning (where it's often getting knocked down too easily rather than faking a fall) is harsh. I think Drmic or Sobey have been in that place previously.
Goulding threw his head back on a play recently where contact wasn't even made. That's when you want to issue a tech or fine someone.

If you watch the replay the refs reviewed the Anderson contact on Sobey and Matt Townsend changed the call to an Unsportsmanlike foul which gave him that and the original tech so he was then gone.

Agreed LV. The situation didn't get out of hand and diffused itself quickly. One tech on Jett and Wiley to put them on notice and get on with the game. Similar to the Randle-Ware situation, so important to have a feel for the game, their jaw-jacking wasn't in danger of spilling over so let them play and let the spectators enjoy the show.

Coenraad did make slight contact but his arms were by his sides. That suggests peacemaking was more his intent, and the bump was incidental to his purpose of getting in front of Wiley and slowing down the aggression
Tech not necessary
Wiley- one tech obviously enough

Nbl needs to learn from the Wiley ejection
A simple situation that should have resulted in one tech foul, and somehow they over refereed it and ended up issuing an ejection, with 3 techs

I wish they just replaced Jackson with someone who can shoot, Jett would be even more effective with his barging drives if there was a little more space.

Great to see better games from Jett and AJ and Cedric did some better things in this game.
Happy to see a nice high scoring game and Blanchfield played really well.
Is it just me or would we perceive 36ers differently had THEY been the team that Mika went to because it's amazing how they don't have anyone that can settle down a situation and no true locker room leader.

I don't have much sympathy for Wiley in that. Short of something supremely offensive and personal being said to him, he's theoretically in control of his actions in response to Jett. Pursued him, danced around and came back including shoving a ref. Just unnecessary. Rucker talks about the refs restraining the emotional side of the game, but leave it at flexing and the first bit of chesting. Rest is just ridiculous. Wiley has to take a lot of responsibility for how that played out.
He played a master game previously. Has himself to blame for not being able to do the same again that round.
Hawks will take a lot out of that game, but neither team seemed all that convincing despite the high scores.

Coenraad was the first person 'in' and gave Wiley a footy-esque bump with his shoulder, alone it was harmless, but in this situation it would be considered an act that could have made the situation worse.

What do Adelaide players and there fans have in common? There SOOKS.Drimic,Sobey and McVeigh are F**KWITS.

Fuck the Hawks. That was disgraceful. Mutual fan devastated with today’s game. NBL looking like a joke with the officiating today

I'm aware of what the commentators said, but it bore little resemblance to reality with such frequency that I'm not really inclined to put any stock in it.

Commentators said they had no idea why Coenraad copped a tech, as he didn't do anything. At worst, he walked over, non agressively, hands down, to (apparently) try to cool things off.

The suggestion that kicking people ought to be ignored if they did something to deserve it is comical.
Does anyone know what Coenraad's technical was for? The commentators said Coenraad and Grida were the only Illawarra players T'd up, but Adelaide had two techs as well and yet shot a technical free-throw. I'm assuming Jett was the third but they also specifically said later on that Jett wasn't T'd up.

Unfortunately this is the inevitable result of Joey's attitude.
He can coach no question. He can certainly build a team, and his style is entertaining and high-scoring.
But he refuses to push D.
If you look at how the Perth game progressed, the difference is obvious. Gleeson didn't try to outscore NZ, he tried to contain them, and it worked. Joey just keeps trying to push the O, and I'm sorry but you can't give up 40 freaking points in one quarter and think you're in with a shot.
And then, when things get tough, he loses his shit.
Any wonder his players follow suit?
Wiley shows all the signs of being a douche.

The man does speak some sense after all. Wiley should have certainly been thrown out

What quarter and time was the fight? I want to watch it.
Q2 6:35.
It's hardly a fight.
I'd go as far to say Wiley was lucky, he laid a hand on a ref.

Refs explanation to Joey for the techs is he got the second for coming back in for a second go. Watching the replay the ref gives Wiley a tech when he is walking away cursing. The refs are a complete joke. Wiley never came in for a second go as he never left the first time.
Yes he did, he clearly came back for a second spray at Jett after the initial fracas and even you saw the T given for the second one.
It's on the soft side for a rejection T but he should know better.
Wiley is happy to carry on and flex muscles, but takes offence when Jett does the same?
The only thing Wiley should be angry at is making Jett look good.

"Our defence whilst not super stellar was good last year, this year we have regressed again, why?"
Adelaide grow an extra leg defensively at home, and lose a leg on the road.

You guys keep going on about the calls as if those calls solely made us lose.
I would like to know from our coach why Illawarra, who is second last in scoring, was allowed to score 120?
I would like to know from our coach why Illawarra, who is dead last in 3PT %, was allowed to score @ 47%?
We made Jett and Ogilvy look like all-stars out there. Jett is SEABL level at best.
Our defence whilst not super stellar was good last year, this year we have regressed again, why?

Sorry, he pushed Jett to start with, then he couldn’t be calmed down and pushed the ref twice while still yapping away. He deserved to be tossed.
Why does Adelaide have such a problem with discipline, and why can’t their fans see it?

“Wiley getting a double T for a single incident of mouthing off is extraordinary.”
He pushed the ref twice. This has been said repeatedly

Joey (I'm off the the NBA) Wright, clearly has been out coached. Nuff said.
Great to see Adelaide lose. David beat Goliath.

Anderson got Sobey in a head lock on an earlier play so he was pushing his luck a bit.

To get him off of his teammates foot? You guys serious?
Anderson has been pulling this shit his entire career. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Drmic should have been teched for running in at Andersen and creating that scuffle. Or did Andersen step his foot too?

First quarter was good. Second though the refs made it a mess. How many fouls did they miss on Adelaide shots? Actually miss is the wrong call. Ignored is probably a better word.

Yeah, I’m serious. Wiley getting a double T for a single incident of mouthing off is extraordinary. Sobey getting T’d up for Anderson standing on his foot, comical.

AJ and Jett have been poor so far this season. How is it the Sixers enable them to score 19 and 18 ??

Adelaide got robbed in each of the three ‘incidents’ in the game. They gave up after Wiley was ejected (I am still not sure for what, he was yapping no more than Jett was). But it was just the in game stuff - Sixers couldn’t buy a foul in the first half. The result was farcical (Joey manufactured most of the farce) but the umpiring ruined the spectacle.

Adelaide are just trying to create a lopsided foul count to give them and their fans an excuse and something to whinge about

We love you 'cause you're from Wollongong.
*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
Do they still do this chant?

Who ‘spiked’ 36ers Powerade bottles at 3/4 time?
Struggling to get the ball into front half, never mind setting up for a good shot.
Hard to watch

Did I just see the guy who poured the drink on Marcus Thornton sitting behind the Hawks bench and with a neck brace on?

These c..ts think they won the championship

WTF
Missing so many free throws and shot selection is shocking.
Seem to be playing into Hawks hands (or is it talons?)

I’d imagine Wiley got a tech for shoving Jett, then another for forcibly removing the refs from his space then going after Jett again. He’s an idiot, he’s only himself to blame.
