Loss of experienced refs in the NBL
"Why did Matt Beattie give it away?"
Matt's a mate, haven't caught up with him for a while but he got into marathon running and was going to a few around the world and also recently got engaged
"it's now time for me to enjoy life as I want it to be." is a quote from his Facebook when he said he was giving it away

“We import coaches and players, why nor import some decent refs to. An ex NBA ref would be able to interpret our game to FIBA standard.”
OK. Sodifferences in game durations and allowed numbers wouldn’t matter. But some differences do matter, ie zone D, goaltending, shot clock. Too much detail to copy pasta. See below (retrieved 1/12/2018).

Fat, fit, old, young.....seen them all over so many years of watching, playing and coaching. It matters not, it's too hard a job. They're always going to screw up on occasions, you just have to accept it and hope they screw the other guys more. I know as a coach that for every time I got a howler (and many times lost the plot and copped a T) there's another occasion when I got a ripper of a mistake that went in my favour. It took a while but the sooner you accept that it is what it is and get on with it, the happier you'll be.

Rather have the fat walkers back where you could chat to them and they could admit mistakes unlike the mega ego's now that if you raise an eyebrow you get a warning.

I think the current new breed are what Scott use to be.
More concerned with “rule application and biceps” than “game management and feel for the game”.

Do anybody know if you can skip the opals game and just for the boomers?
cheers,
