Ben Madgen on a possible return to the NBL

Agreed FFT, the bottom of the German league is below the level of the NBL, but the top half would slot into the NBL nicely. I haven't looked at his breakdown of performances against good and bad teams, but I'm sure he'd still be a pretty good player here.

Could be a handy weapon off the bench, or make a weapon of a bench

Aye. Hazza reference alert

He could be quite a useful addition to Phoenix being a wise head and bringing order.

He could provide order to the Phoenix and wave some magic off the bench.

Over/under 1.5 chairs thrown in season 2019/20?

I'll take the over

Seriously, the guy can still play! He certainly has value to add from a leadership perspective, let alone on the court!

Kings please. Just need a new Head Coach first. Then a new GM.

He is averaging 15p and 5r in the German league, shooting 40% from 3p and sitting just outside the top 10 scorers in an 18-team comp. He could still definitely be a very solid contributor in the NBL.

34 is a long way off dead. Haven't seen Madgen play even a second of basketball since he wore a Kings jersey, but as a guy who did most of his work off the ball I don't see why he couldn't still be a serviceable player in the NBL at 34.

Would love to see him back in Sydney.

Surely Melb don’t chase him

He's almost 34 can't see there being much interest in him now.

Is this guy decrepit or has he aged well?

He'll be 34.5 years old come the start of next season

Woodville-North (Fri) & North-Woodville (Sat) The Ultimate Double Header

Women: North look set to completely sink Woodville’s finals hopes like an oil tanker hitting a Hobie Cat. Too strong, and unless something funny happens in 24 hrs, the Wockets should take it on the flip side as well. Barrie has been on the bench all season, so using the Carla Clause, I expect he'll be suiting up for finals.

Men: Last roll of the dice for Al’s boys to stay in the 5. They can probably get 3 of their last 4 games, but one of these games would be a handy. Could be an awkward second date on Sat night with possible coitus happening.

Norwood-Mavs

Women: Winning is the drug of choice for the Lightning Flames and despite their best efforts, the Mavettes better get ready for pain. Then again, it’s never over until the final siren, or until bye law 666 is enacted and the Mavs let the Opals have a training run.

Men: Norwood refuse to lie down and die. They are like Bruce Willis on a night out with McGuyver & Bear Grylls. They should be able to catch and release the Mavs using lightweight gear, but the Mavs might have other ideas on a night that could be their best chance to break a drought.

Tigers-Sabres

Women: The Tigeresses look set to unleash an arsenal of anguish for the Sabres tonight after a shock loss. They need this one to hold 5th and should.

Men: With the Tigers ice skating through the season, along comes the Sabres to pour slippery oil on the ice rink. Hide the matches just in case they light it.

Lions-Bearcats

Women: The Lionesses should tear the Bearcats apart in this game. The big question though, is can you still get a good latte in Gawler after 5?

Men: The Lions have demonstrated they can match it with the big boys, but just because you wear glasses and have pens in you top pocket doesn't make you a professor. Once again, expect them to push the Bearcats and then "red shirt" it in the final quarter.

Eagles-Panthers

Women: Forestville and wins go together like Rundle Mall and Preachers. Panthers would be well advised to bring along apples for distraction. Sounds like the pushed the Lightning Flames last round so the Eagles would be as big an upset as Carla actually suiting up and playing. Carla seems to be the Higgs boson particle of the team - very hard to find.

Men: The horse of dreams has bolted for the Panthers and the anguish of season  2012 has set in.  Don't worry, the Feagles promise to play easy tonight, although their fingers were crossed when they said it.
