Are the Boomers the next best team after the US?
Froling is twice the player Humphriies is, Humphries so overrated on the board.

I wouldn't have thought so. No... absolutely not

"yes there's a ton of young guys coming through but this board is relentlessly premature in selecting them to hypothetical Boomers teams."
so true.

future boomers? (95'-00' born)
Pg 96' Ben Simmons 6'10 / 95' Dante Exum 6'6 / 98' William McDowell White 6'5
Sg 00' Josh Green 6'6 / 98' Daniel Grida 6'6
Sf 96' Deng Adel 6'7 / 97' Jack White 6'7
Pf 97' Thon Maker 7'1 / 96' Jonah Bolden 6'10 / 95' Xavier Cooks 6'8
C 95' Jock Landale 6'11 / 98' Isaac Humphries 7'0

Don’t try and bring sense into this board, that’s not how it works. You are 100% correct though.

Lemanis is the X factor(NOT).The Boomers should follow the lead of the womens soccer team and sack Lamanis. If a Bevo or a Joey was coaching the Boomers they would be the 2nd best team in the world hands down.

It's too hard to answer given teams don't play against each-other often enough (and not at full strength).
The only real games that Australia play are those within their FIBA zone; and friendlies against European teams/South American teams are basically out of the question (we'd only play them at the WC or Olympics really).
What I would say is that teams ranked 2 - 12 (roughly) could probably beat each other on any given day.
Too hard to say Australia are #2 definitively.
But I would certainly have them in that Tier B without a doubt. i.e.
Tier A = USA (on their own)
Tier B = Seriba, Slovenia, Spain, France, Australia and a few others
..

“Baynes/Bogut primary centres. Maker or Bolden can fill in at centre also”
Boomers won’t be able to rely on Bogut for more that bball smarts, leadership and minor minutes in tournament play. Barnes primary centre. Need another primary centre who can also play pf. Bolden could play centre in a small ball lineup. Maybe Maker is the answer, but I’d pick 1 more specialist centre who can also play pf.

Forgot creek.

Positions
Simmons 1/4
Mills 2/1
Ingles 3/2
Bolden 4/5
Baynes 5/4
Exum 1/2
NBL guard (Sobey, Mccarron, Gliddon Goulding etc) 2/1
Broekhoff 3/2
Maker 4/5
Bogut 5
Dellavedova 1/2
Adel 3/2
Baynes/Bogut primary centres. Maker or Bolden can fill in at centre also.
No need for a Landale, Mathiang or Humphries, only when bogut retires.
Our issue is the guard position, could be one of several nbl players. Sobey, mccarron, gliddon, Goulding etc

USA 4th team
pg Lillard
sg CJ Mcullom
sf Tobias Harris
pf Harrison Barnes
C Myles Turner

USA first team
pg - Curry
sg - Thompson
sf - LBJ
PF - Durant
C - Anthony Davis
USA 2nd team would still demolish everyone
PG - Irving
SG - Russell Westbrook
SF - Paul George
PF - Blake Griffin
C - Andre Drummond
LOL USA 3rd team would also destroy everyone
pg - John Wall
sg - Bradley Beal
sf - Jimmy Butler
pf - Draymond Green
c - De Andre Jordan

And the us team would be?

USA 3rd team would be comparable to the other good teams, but not a guaranteed medal. USA 2nd team would get silver.

Last time we played the USA, we lost by?

Is team USA's second (and potentially third) best lineup available still better than the second best international team? Im going second yes and third probably.

Thank god Yugoslavia divided into 8 (or maybe more) countries (wars, destruction and death aside obviously). They'd be easily second best right now if all those states played together.
Also amazing to think it wasnt that long ago that Lithuania was part of the USSR and USSR's best players were Lithuanian for a long time when they have a tiny population.

Germany topped the group with 9-1 record

Lots of guys in Europe and lots of young prospects.

We have the talent to be, but I think we will always be susceptible to teams who are used to playing together. With so many guys in the NBA, reality is our core guys will spend a less time together on the court than a lot of other nations prior to the world cup/Olympics.

Spain and France are in decline.
Spain getting very old. Gasol is 38. His brother is turning 34.
France has gobert but not a stellar supporting cast. Lauvergne, batum, de colo, ntilkina. Good but not aus level.

Serbia and canada right up there too.

What are the rules for finals eligibility for players that have played up and want to qualify for a lower team for finals?
