Brisbane vs Illawarra stealth thread
Illawara had to win it in regulation. Giving it to Blanchfield was a good move. Gliddon is a poor defender, but the fall away was a terrible shot. Blanchfield needed to go straight up put the foul in play and if anything toward the hoop a little. GET TO THE LINE.

Funny how they say it with such conviction, Perthworld

Mayberry needs to be put on the clock. Ridiculous amount of time wasted tonight, and also WTF are the scorers bench doing not starting the clock when the crappy Hawks pass hit Conklin? Wake up! Although Video Vaughan loved them for it so he could soak up even more attention.

So the refs have video review. Surely the monitor they look at will be able to tell them exactly how much time had elapsed so they don't have to guess

Mayberry is a grandstanding flog, he is so bad.
BUT THE HAWKS NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the wank they served up in this crucial game. Bullets were there to be taken but they didn't want it enough!! Give the keys to Naar and Grida they are the future and play with heart!!!

Forgot this game was on but looked up NBL app. In the "play-by-play", it kept showing "clock adjustment".
Sure enough, when I got home and looked up the game, Vain Mawberry was a ref.
Can the NBL fuck him right off next season?

Damn I was watching on Fox.
What did they say/do? F'kin' amateurs those two who aren't fit for TV.

bahahah you see trigger and the other commentator take an L at the end, camera and mic still rolling and you can hear and see them fuck up

Haha just taking the piss son.
But in fairness, the Hawks are rocking two league MVPs, a Boomer and former NBA player, AJ big boy Ogilvy who was in the Boomers conversation for so long, Todd 'Alpha' Blanchfield who is one of the best scorers in the comp when he wants to be, human bowling ball and clutch time specialist Jordair Jett, all-time Saint Marys assist leader (I think) Naar, future NBL superstar Grida, Tim 'transition triple' Coenraad, Kevo 'never miss while I'm watching' White.
They're stacked.

Yeah, okay, that's exactly what you thought. You only show up after a tight win. Lucky Jett missed those free throws.

I thought they looked great

Good news for the Hawks now I guess is that Naar and Grida should be playing the minutes that they've shown they deserve for the past few months.

They won but looked shit Manu. Adelaide for 4th please for the sake of quality in the playoffs.

Textbook from the Buzzas

F*** OFF Todd Blanchfield, disgraceful stuff when they team needed you and you put up nothing!! NBA dreams don't make me laugh man

Absolutely pathetic final few minutes from the Bullets in regulation. Not even going to watch OT. Garbage.
Much of the talk this week has been that Lemanis is in negotiations for an extension. Unbelievable a guy so bad at recruiting a team over the last three years will probably get to keep his job.
Enjoy your playoffs spot Adelaide. And sadly it looks like we won’t see you back in Brisbane next season Joey.

Good point about AJ f*cking with Jett's free throws and up to that point he was heating up. He has never had a heart muscle.

I thought the ball could only be advanced after a made basket? I learnt something new.

Are Illawarra for real?? Giving it to Blanchfield for the game winner when he can't hit a barn tonight

The single most frustrating thing about the NBL - today no contact in the paint being whistled, 98% of games the exact opposite.

Conklin is a player I don't much care for.

Re: the AJ foul I guess that's the way to stop a break now and not get an USF?

What a stupid pass from Hodgson. Gave Bairstow no chance

Illawarra winning bench scoring comfortably.
Does seem to be a trend for victory this season.

GRIDA. That kid’s going to be an NBL great. No doubt about it.

Does he really? Wow! How would we ever know that? Ha

Newsflash: Kerle has a yoga studio.

First quarter finished.
Bullets up by 5.
Still no one cares.

Yet again, we show that we as strong team as we would like, or we think worldwide (yes yes, trolling, and we do well for our size!). Although we all love hoops I really think we have to come to grips with the fact that we are basically a 15 - 20th strength team in the world, if that.
If we had to qualify through Europe we might not be at the Olympics, or if there was a competition such as the soccer world cup (I know FIBA are either looking at that or will do it soon) we would struggle to make the top 12.
If you look at the teams that are strongest in Europe we would not be able to consistently beat many of them at all and have shown that we struggle with the strongest South American teams as well.
So for the sake of argument below is a list of the top 20 international teams. My question is which of these teams could we beat 6 times out of 10, or in a best of 7 series. Assume all teams have all players available.
USA - no
Spain - no
Argentina - no, perhaps in 3 years
Greece - if they were not paying any attention
Lithuania - no
Turkey - wish I could say yes but I have my doubts
Italy - look at their roster NO
Serbia - no
China - yes
Russia - no
France - no
Brazil - no
Germany - dirk and kaman, no
Angola - yep
Puerto Rico - guards are way to good and they have size no
Slovenia - hopefully
New Zealand - yep
Croatia - gonna say yes but not super confidant
Nigeria - Id like ot think so so yep
Dominican Republic - yep
