Quality of Australian sports broadcasting
Yeah Cam Luke seems comfortable and no real uneasy pauses, understands a joke and seems insightful.
I don't think it's a case of basketball not being big enough to have its own identifiable hosts and commentators but moreso the networks wanting their stars to be identifiable from other sports and hoping that they can translate.
I know this has nothing to do with it but Adam Gilchrist at Formula One's atleast knows what he's talking about as a personality coming from an entirely different field.
It would be great if we could have and keep our own commentators as hosts (or atleast having the pretty hosts listening in at time outs and relaying messages rather than asking players generic questions, id rather that be from an 'expert' analyst.

Cam Luke is quality though

Costello has been very good as the host of the awards night though

Early in the Melbourne v Perth game, Hudson says to homicide "you've been quiet, who's your tip for today's game?" To which homicide replied "I don't know". Followed by awkward silence and Hudson saying "well, at least you're honest".

I think it may be a case of the networks spreading the talent too thin. For example Sam McClure at the cricket and now Costello at the basketball or even Bruce McAvaney at every sport 7 has had over the last three decades. Unlike America we aren't big enough to have specialised commentators or reporters for every sport so they have to get by covering other things that may not be up their alley and unfortunately it shows sometimes.

Who do you think should be in the Olympic allstar 5 if it was named?
I'd say:
Kirilenko
Durant
Lebron
Pau Gasol
Manu
