Something STINKS, wait is the rot at Hustle 3x3
No state league players/teams entered the WA hustle, so the teams were merely randoms. 7 open mens teams was actually the most across the states - 6 for NSW, 6 for Tas, and 4 for Vic.
$75 per team, so roughly $20 per player, with 6 games over 3 hours, is roughly $3 per game. And the uniforms were actually $30, the cheapest compared to the other states.

WA hustle ran with 7 team, and very VERY average quality. All players forced to buy singlets at $50 a pop, plus registration fees for what, 6x 12 minute games? Hardly worth it. Selling people on the idea that they can represent Australia, when really, BA and NBL need Freddie to enter in as many tournaments as possible so we as a country get enough points to qualify. Then enter fringe NBL players.
It is a Ponzi scheme at its finest. The plebs at the bottom fund/qualify those at the top. Larry's son gets his cut through First Ever branded singlets..

These 3x3 Hustle cancellations are Karma coming back to Larry for taking the 3x3 proposal from CLB and copying their concept with the Hustle.
Seems like Larry is trying every way possible to recouped some of the money
he's put into the nbl.

QLD Hustle canned as well it seems, no longer listed here https://www.3x3hustle.com/events/
Maybe pushed back, but it was supposed to be on March 10th
ACT, SA and QLD with no luck. NSW, TAS & WA went ahead, with Vic's this weekend

The short form of the game is great when played with the right rules applied and on the 3x3 court (not on an indoors traditional court).
It is always disappointing to see events cancelled.
The CLB3x3 event in Hamilton attracted 80-odd teams last weekend, so there is plenty of interest. Events just need to be planned and managed right.

Anyone play in the Gatorade 3x3 comp years ago, winners got to meet MJ! That was a fun comp. Reckon our team got screwed, I played in the under 16's comp, we ended up 3rd losing to one of the Bruton's but we both lost to this team that I shit you not looked like they were at least 18. Couple of the guys had facial hair and scars on their face. You were meant to provide original birth certs so our team and Bruton's team challenged them with the officials, this team had barely legible birth extracts which they said were fine. BS.
Also went in the Shane Heal Pepsi one a year or so later I think it was?

Again i repeat friends dont let friends play 3x3 hustle

How do you get people to the games without hyping it? That's what promotion is. If you don't get enough teams but don't cancel, do you think the resulting thread is going to be any more positive? Maybe there are smoother ways to handle it, but they're in a difficult position.
No, it's not the role of an internet nuff-nuff to promote it, but if you are interested enough to be one of the few players entering a team, I'd guess you want to see it succeed. Seems strange to throw it under the bus so dramatically and quickly.
I went to one event a while back and while it was very hot and without shade, the games were interesting to watch and there were some recognisable names playing. That was with solid prizemoney on offer and ABL+ players on most teams.

3 x 3 needs to be run by people that understand the game. Understand the rules and how to run a comp. Its an olympic sport in 2020. Even if junior clubs run it every now and then why not run and manage it properly? Never played 3 x 3 but looking on line it looks fast and exciting. Sounds like more damage than good is being done by this group.

I’ve found that 3x 3 is. Or taken seriously and rules not understood and not officiated accordingly and that makes it just a pickup half court game. Some junior clubs run it every now and the and they have good numbers but again it is not played the right way to be able to gain the right skills to go the next level.

Not sure what this thread is about but,Went to a BQ clinic on 3x3 concept....Me - Huh? Why? WTF!!

hoopsinsider - get your facts straight. We moved out of the car park about four years ago...
:)

olypmics anywone?? https://www.olympic.org/news/basketball-3x3-ready-to-rock-tokyo-2020-olympic-games

Really? Based on the recent event held at Hamilton Showgrounds I’d say there are plenty of people who care about 3x3 in Australia....81 teams across a weekend event.
Anyone play? Looked like an awesome event

It’s not the brand. It’s the version of the sport that no one cares about in Australia. Neither 3 x 3 brand in Australia are setting the world on fire.

Oh yeah, like it’s the job of random internet posters to talk up some failing brand.

The reality is 3 x 3 is not popular in Australia compared to the rest of the world. It’s not to hard to understand

Clearly no idea what you are talking about Isaac. The brand is crap already. The facts speak for themselves. They cant fill a schedule so hype it and then cancel. Not good for anyone. Focus on the NBL. Why help them when all they do is damage the 3x3 brand for everyone. Wake up.

The Big Hustle Victoria is supposed to be held this weekend. The ACT Hustle was also supposed to be this weekend - most likely canned just like SA

WA's went ahead. They only got Open mens teams it seems. No big names, not very high scores.

Yeah, talking crap about the brand will really help them fill a schedule with teams... Great move.

Looks like he is going to be ready; hopefully it will be a big season for Bogut this year and he can bounce back from the last couple of years with the horrible run of injuries he has had
