Southern Huskies
Its very inprtant we can show we can get big crowds, because if we are to get an NBL team we will need to average around 4000 a game.

Does anyone know what the attendance was,it looked good from what I could see.

Not these days with current rules, the unsportsmanlike should be re-named

Billups was fouled out with two Unsportsmanlike fouls, should be automatic 1 game suspension, no?

Who knows why the stats people can’t get it right, maybe they got get to opsm. Bilups is a dunker, not much more.

Bilups is a selfish player, they were six down after he Bilups got his second tech and NG went and made two free throws. At that stage of the game Huskies had given the lead away and were going backwards, it was a game changer for the better for the Huskies and turned the game back to them.

With 1.58 remaining Billups receives a USF and is fouled out. the score it 85-89. Bronson Beri makes both free throws and the score is 85-91. So when Billups fouls out and the clock resumes running Hobart are down by 6!!! Sorry #670

Didn’t see the interview but if Bilups said definitely not stewie, it was not a smart answer, he doesn’t come across as a smart player either with so many defensive liabilities. It was a amazing when he got tech fouled out with 1minute 41 left on the clock the huskies trailed by six, they then got stops, passed the ball, looked like a team and one the game.

The refereeing was still shit, very good win to the huskies, Bilups should play less minutes and Cummings more. A back court of Nichols, Cummings and Moller in the three looked great down the stretch. The stats people had better improve as well, they missed heaps.

Then BTAS are at fault along with NZNBL for rostering tassie refs

Six down with a minute 46 left on the clock and Bilups fouled out. Huskies then win the game.

Moller was absolutely smashed on the final play and still no whistle, as above said lucky Jones was there to get the tip in. The refs are not up to it. Great result for the chargers. As also noted previously Bilups doesn’t fit this team, talented with ball around the basket but offers nothing else. The stats were a absolute shambles and no excuses will do, if the huskies want to take the next step fix these up. They had better find a few more spectators as well.

Blame BTAS for the Tassie refs as that’s the deal they made with the NZNBL.

How bad are the stats people, thanks to the commentators giving us the score, they had Huskies down by 8 points when they led by two.

Moller smashed under the basket, great tip in by Jones, how much better do the huskies look when Bilups is in the stand.

Huskies never win a game with Bilups, get rid him now. There is no i in team, plus don’t play d.

marcel jones good enough for the nbl

My grandma boxes out better than Bilups and defends better, offensively he’s great but only one end

were is the huskies DP and bench players only 4 players

Bartlett seems to have big money investors behind him, and the rumours are he’s in LK camp. As I said rumours but it does look like the huskies have upset someone. Not good for basketball in Tasmania.

Haha, the problem with somebody like Bertlett is that he is such a divisive person. After his infamous "deal with the devil" almost half the people in Tassie, (including the big end of town) will hate him till the day he dies.
Yes, he wanted to be the one spearheading the push for a Hobart NBL team, but I don't think that was a realistic ambition.
Like it or not, and it could definitely have been handled better, the Huskies have replaced the Chargers, and if they want basketball to flourish then the people of Hobart need to get behind them.
As for why nobody in Launceston turned up for their NZBL game, Blind Freddy could have told them that was going to happen.
Trying to get bipartisan support for a "Tasmanian" team was always going to be a massive challenge.
Referring to it as "Southern" was a dumb move.
Announcing that your entire bid is predicated on obtaining and redeveloping a home in Hobart, probably didn't help.
Co-branding it with the Hobart NBL1 team was the (mind-numbingly stupid) final nail in the coffin. The Huskies are now, by definition, Hobart.
It would be like asking New Zealanders to support the Boomers at the Olympics

southern huskies have lost another play BJ Radcliffe who's now playing in the NBL1

Because he had fans going to watch seabl, I hope I’m wrong but sometimes negotiations are better than splitting.

A bit early to call the race winner at present but it certainly looks like two horses now instead of one, the huskies had better start getting people into the stadiums or it could be the end.

Unless you are LK I’m not certain you can say with authority that it won’t happen, in the end he makes the decisions on the nbl. I’m just hearing things through the grape vine, who knows where it’s going but they had better start getting more people in or it will be a missed opportunity again.

LK wants a team out Tasmania but if they don’t get bums on seats it won’t happen, I’m also hearing there might be another player re a Tasmanian consortium. Maybe Bartlett should’ve been backed in, or brought back to the fold, he did a lot right.

Basketball in general and the Chargers thrived under Bartlett.
The bloke can be proud of his achievements.
Now the crowds are poor and basketball has resumed its mission of getting in its own way.
Bartlett's obvious passion for the game of basketball in general, not just the Chargers, bridged the many basketball divides that existed in Tas, and now quite obviously exist again, now that he is forced somewhat into the background by some envious and powerful onlookers that now wanna piece of the action.

Time will tell re his current dealings, but not letting Btas or BV dictating to you is probably a good thing. Nbl1 has certainly not set the game alight and all Tasmanian teams are struggling. Will be a very interesting few years, let’s hope it works out best for all basketball fans and players.

"Bartlett is ..... doing his own thing. You can take that to the bank."
If that is true then there is hope Hobart Basketball might yet survive this BTas/Southern Huskies debacle.

LK won’t let them in if there is divisiveness, far from being a shit show because of Bartlett, it looks like he kept it altogether. Huskies should’ve just kept southern huskies and let Btas swing. All state associations are a law to them selves and are as you say shit shows. Great to see LK taking over Basketball Australia.

Yeah it looks like the Chargers demise destroyed all the momentum.
Strange how the Chargers/Huskies looked to be seemmingly morphing something great between them, then BTas enter the picture, the Chargers are out, the Chargers coach is now working for BTas and the Huskies!
Thhe Huskies/BTas have seemingly already done a deal, hangin'the Chargers out to dry cause they seemingly think they can ride rough shod ín, take over the momentum, stealing the lime light, perhaps settling some old scores as a bonus.
Fairly safe to say if Bartlett was still the guiding influence the whole show would have gone from strength to strength.
Now its a bits a pieces sh#t show and now one seemingly cares anymore to even go to watch.

It’s disappointing and with team of individuals not certain much will change. Should’ve built the team around Tre and Craig, gone and got pieces around these two. The whole chargers demise has probably left a bad taste after such a successful season.

The Silverdome game was basically free entry and still a small crowd.
Ticket prices were slashed in the week leading up to the Wellington home game at the DEC and hundreds of free tickets flooded Launceston Thursday last week. The Mascot was giving free tickets away at the door!
After such an interesting and promising arrival into Tassie, the Huskies have really dropped the ball following through in capturing the hearts and minds of Tasmanians.

huskies need depth only 10 players

The team has no direction with out Moller in the four playing point forward, and there transition on both ends of the floor leaves a lot to be desired. Not certain why Vandenberg was not given a chance on Pledger when he went into beast mode. Obviously the difference in this league compared to the WA league where most these guys played before is a massive difference, should have looked at a few seabl guys before them.

Nichols is an import so makes it hard but he’s ok, Moller on team already, the rest don’t understand team. Chargers looked much better than the huskies, no big names but all new there roll. The loss of Froling hurt big time and the original signing of Bilups looked good but like lot bigs struggles down the defensive end.

"Bryan Michael(S) on the other hand looks well out of his depth in this competition."
Disappointing, but isn't he on the comeback from serious injury??
Do any of these guys, so far, look like they might be worth a spot on an NBL bench?

Another loss while leading by 17 at 3/4 time, Nichols and Moller can play team, but Jones and Bilups play for themselves. Nichols has to play point guard and Moller in the four, Pledger was carving and Vandenberg stayed on the bench, who knows. If Vandenberg not good enough get a five man or play him. Finally the refereeing again was atrocious, if NZ refs want to call it all their way might as well not enter competition. Foul count 25-14, free throws 29 to 14, hard to win games like that.

Bragg not playing like a facilitator though, that’s the point you made your self, he thinks of nothing but getting to the rack, it’s why I agree with above anon, he should come off the bench. Bilups is scorer but has to improve his defence, and stop jacking the three. Coach Stewart got it together last season but it was based around Nichols and Moller and roll players, at present Jones, Bilups, Bragg want the ball where it’s better with Moller and Nichols making the decisions.

Anon 127, Bragg and Nichols can play on the floor together, Bragg needs to play PG though. Instead of trying to attack the ring every possession he needs to become a facilitator. There's no need to score as pg in that team, but theres definitely need for some organisation and leadership. Nichols on other hand has to start scoring out of the offence instead of one pass call for an onball. Too predictable.
Moller doing what Moller does.
Billups needs to stop shooting 3s (blokes out there building houses) and start making plays inside where hes unstoppable.
Marcell looks like a good addition but we'll see how his thirst for the ball effects chemistry.
Bench guys are solid enough and don't need to be massive contributors, but given the lack of rotations by the coach you wouldn't know if any of them can contribute anyway. Not gonna win games against the likes of Wellington playing without some depth.

Put your hand up then ya bum. You’d shit yourself.

What league do you coach in anonymous? "Bragg and Nichols should not be on the floor together"

Bragg and Nichols should not be on the floor together, Nichols should be starting point guard and Bragg off the bench, Jones should be fine but over played his hand and can’t make free throws. They need a quality five man so they can start Bilups in the four, Jones in the three and Moller in the two, though passing in from the base line. Huskies will be lucky to make finals but a good start to their first season.

Illi hits the floor more than Goulding, he’s a protected species in this league, straight out flopper and head back thrower. As previously stated by others the refs were atrocious.

Is it me or do Huskies fan’s sound remarkably like Breakers fans when they came into the NBL? We only lost because of the Aussie refs.

That’s because he is from South Australia and on the NBL panel

If there was 2 Tassie refs whoever the 2nd one was in new to the panel. I have never seen him previously and he was terrible.
