Bowen still contracted to the NBL/Kings?
When he was signed, it was mentioned really early on that it was for two seasons... A good idea really, as not everyone will get first round guaranteed deal, so it's a good chance that the Kings could get to work with him and develop him some more (now they don't have Gaze as coach) but there's no way that it should still be under the Next Stars deal unless that was upfront early on...
It being a work in progress shouldn't be an excuse for a team to take advantage of the system...

That makes no fucking sense whatsoever.
Next Stars is by definition for one season only, so how could he be contracted for two?
His contract was with the NBL, not Sydney.
How would his contract not have an NBA-out clause?
Whole idea flies in the face of the whole Next Stars premise.
Only way he would be contracted to Sydney, would be if they have already offered him a contract for next season and he accepted. ie a completely new contract as an import.

Nice rhetorical question, Mitch.

That is a disgrace what sort of team would force a player to pay a buyout to follow their dream to play in the NBA?!?!!? :)

You would think so. The second year of the contract in essence is really just to make sure NBL teams get something if their Next Star gets drafted.
