WA SBL - June 2019
Can we please start a new thread for July @ Lukosius

perthworld represents everything great about the green army ... not!
Can you give us an insight how you can spend 60k on your wsbl program have the Mabo coach of the year 2017 and be losing???
Surely Its crisis point for the women!
No idea honestly as I only follow the men.
All this hate on the Wolves when Redbacks are a complete shambles going off of the above info. Scummy and dodgy.
Also no avatar = not me.

pesava back with cockburn tonight; Javion Blake with a triple double for the Suns in Kalgoorlie against Giants

Nix's tenure looking shaky now. Losses keep coming. Team looks ordinary on court - just like so many of his previous teams.

Redbacks should have focused on getting imports that we're going to be playing the whole season , they have not had a consistent rotation all season long. Lacko spends too much time chasing the big names.

Big game coming up Marshall tonight, he told me that he's single handedly going to take the flames down. He said it should be easy but Lee Bongerts needs to stay out of his way so he can go for 50 point triple double!

It makes sense - no coach would be paying players from their own hard earned. I've never seen that anywhere in pro sport and this is only semi pro.

JPA is cute, but Sami Whitcomb Priestly Godfrey Malpass is better doe. Sooooo many 3 balls ryt there dats fo sho

All of the kids moved when he was no longer a State Coach..
What could even possibly be promised?
BWA dismissed the issue after evidence showing Cockburn had pushed the kids away for inappropriate approached.
The same old tribe over at Burrendah beating their chest and blaming everyone but themselves.. classic Willo.
Have a read Tigers folk >> http://mentalfloss.com/article/63389/roosevelts-man-arena >> stop criticising those doing the work and showing the care. Find out why your kids want to leave home.

If you've ever played poker with the guy then none of this comes as a surprise. So up himself.

wow spectator maybe a bit disgruntled
maybe instead of placing blame on others for poaching (which ironically has been the model of the current Tigers SBL program) look at why so many of these kids left in one hit. Generally poaching results in 1 kid moving clubs that fits a specific need not a wholesale change with a stream of kids leaving all at once
it was only a few years ago that 3 of tigers most promising juniors in shervill garbellini and selby all left to lakeside in one hit. they left for a reason and a lot probably had to do with the environment within the Tigers program at the time
from all accounts the tigers kids that all moved across to cougars left for similar reasons

Surely times up for Salinas and Iliadis, gone are the days those two were Curry and Thompson from 3. Funny also to note how their 3-PT%s have dropped way off since getting a regulation court.
Iliadis 2015 v 2019:
FG% : -6.4%
3P% : -7.3%
FT% : -4.6%
RBD : -3.22 rpg
AST : -2.39 apg
PTS : 13.4 ppg

giants will make the playoffs but that loss on sunday will hurt their final position . could mean going to Geraldton and not going , playing the wolves instead of senators.
I think most people can see the good job that trahair is doing in Mandurah , they have been very competitive in most games without stewart, deng and ballyntyne in the last 2-3 weeks. trahair has developed a number of kids including parker, kearing etc . if they part ways they will be back to square one once again.
if lakovic has finished I take my hat off to him he has been invested in the redbacks program and made a huge difference including a title.
people will say he bought a title but isn that what everyone else is doing hawks, wolves etc.
the wolfpack would become more marketable without ettridge he is a good coach but doesn't have the personality . there is more to coaching then X and O "S.
I Think nener is in the same boat as trahair a good coach without the budget , I think the eagles have some very talented kids if they could identify a talented import and coach they could be good for many years to come.
I think as far as looking at coaches, don't you think the heat should be on the teams with the topped up rosters that aren't performing.
my gf tip is gero vs hawks as long as they don't cross paths in the semis.

haha giants will 100% be in the playoffs this year. the loss to slammers is probably more a bit of a wake up call than the wheels have fallen off.
I dont think even Ricky Grace could help the Magic right now. Great to see his son in the League though.
It will be interesting to see what plays out this offseason with coaches as you could very well see quite a few changes across the league
Surely Lako will be done after this season
Trahair doesnt seem to have made any inroads into changing Mandurah's fortunes after 3 years. Do they bring him back again?
If the above poster is correct and Ettridge is on the block if they dont win then he will be leaving because no way Wolves win it this year.
Eagles seem to be having problems far bigger than just their coaching staff
Does Nener continue at Cougars?

very costly loss to the goldfields giants on sunday. with bowie injured they may struggle to make the playoffs . yes they have an easy run but look what happened over the weekend , close scare against Mandurah and then loose to the slammers.

More trouble for the Wolves WSBL team to come I'm told, watch this space

Kayla Steindl does NOT have a back injury, she has a front injury- meaning the announcement was a front to cover up for her pregnancy, until it is safe to officially announce it...

Re: Etteridge - about time if so! Pissed away so many titles in deciders when heavy favourites.

Interesting that the son of the best ever PG to play for the Wildcats ends up down at Mandurah. The old Cats connection between Trahair and Ricky perhaps paying off?

Yeah they should spend all their money on Ash Litterick, the guy who had 2 points and 5 rebounds against the hawks tonight.

Jerami Grace played for Mandurah tonight. Has he replaced Shaun Stewart? Season-ending injury to Stewart?

Hawks smacked Warwick. No Steindl and they still won by 24. Starting to find some form in the back end of this season.

Tough loss for Ego'ridge and the Wolves down against a very undermanned Rockingham team (No Hire or Ritchart). Is it just me or do they have some major rebuilding to do in the next year or two. The game seems to have gone past Salinas and Huntington now, and Iliadis won't be far behind. Or do they do what they did ten years ago and just get the cheque book out for Warwick's best younger talent - Litterick would be the obvious target to replace Huntington. Who else could they look at poaching from other clubs then claim as their own five years down the track?

So that's 7 imports who have been replaced/released this season from the mens SBL. Must be a record.
Connor (Buccs) - replaced
Salmon (Giants) - replaced
Demunyiak (Redbacks) - released
Hymon (Tigers) - replaced
Galbreath (Tigers) - injured
Milam (Cougars) - released
Voelkel (Slammers) - replaced
You could also add Zollo from the Eagles but not sure if he was ever signed. Also a few from the women have moved on as well.

'varying reasons, but the courageous decision most times is save budget and blood the youth - courageous though rarely seen'
Agreed.
So who influences this decision...the Club or the Head Coach?
Interesting to see which Clubs and/or Head Coaches are process-driven or purely outcomes focused...

Apparently Milam sent home earlier this week. Not really surprised.

Adekponya can play because he will be granted Galbreaths games, with a simple letter to the commission.

No they haven't. For starters you have to be injured. It's widely known that Roberts is not playing due to Visa problems, not injury. Don't post a stupid comment to try and create controversy when most intelligent SBL watchers know the real deal. Just makes you look like a fool.

What is the point of signing Roberts or Adekponya if they are ineligible to play Finals? Wouldn't it be prudent for these Clubs to 'put the cue in the rack' and focus on developing their cohort of younger players for the remainder of the season?

This from the official SBL Preview last week....
"There’s every chance both teams will have a new face too with the Redbacks a chance to welcome back 2017 Grand Final MVP Lee Roberts while the Tigers have signed exciting swingman Matthew Adekponya to replace injured import Chris Galbreath."

Steindl has a back injury and is done for the season

RUMUOR GOING AROUND THAT KAYLA STEINDEL IS FINISHED PLAYING FOR THE YEAR , INJURED -PREGNANT ? HENCE THE REASON THEY BOUGHT IN ANDEE RITTER.
ALSO NO CONTRACT FOR THE LYNX.

Yes the Tigers are improved since changing imports, however the new import is out, for the season I'm guessing, and take a look at their next 5 games:
Buccs (away)
Wolves (away)
Giants (away)
Magic (away)
Giants (home)
That's most likely 4 losses and their season gone.
Last week it was said that they signed Adekponya, yet he didn't play on the weekend. He can't play enough games to qualify for playoffs and he won't be cheap, so why bother.

Gee I tell ya, wouldn't want to run into the Tiglets any time soon. They're dangerous, won 5 of their last 6 when things were looking bleak. Narrow losses to Buccs and Wolves.
One of those teams that could catch fire and its left right, nighty night.
