Australian FIBA 3x3 World Cup teams named
Women scrape past Japan and will be in 1/4s

Asian Cup is weak and World Cup qualifying also since 40 teams qualify. As you said outside of Europe the talent falls away. The World Cup will be the proof in the pudding.
Our top male is ranked over #200. Ex NBL players playing this as a side gig is not going to improve our lowly standard and rank in this form of the game.

You guys are a hoot
"Walker got better with every game" 4 points in the last 2 games (18 total), yep, he got better and better.
"This is a young man's game.": Dusan Bulut, the #1 ranked 3x3 player in the world is 33, (Perthworld strikes again)
"We can't be sending guys that probably don't rank in the top 200 of basketball athletes in the country to the pinnacle of sport!" : 2 of the top 5 players never played 5x5 basketball (social not included), 2 played 2nd division and 1 played a year in the Hungarian league, hardly top 200 in their country.
3x3 is different, 12 second shot clocks, that means lots of missed shots.
As "real" basketball fans know you can't have everybody shooting the ball, not in 3x3 anyway.
Hire got 34 rebounds from the total of 73 we got, Coenraad was the shooter, the Aussies won.
"Hire and Coenraad? WTF!"
For the record Hire also scored 21 points and finished 11th in that category whilst Coenraad finished as the top scorer of the Asian Cup with 35, so there Perthworld, once again you failed
This team might not be as good and competitive compared to the European sides, but over there 3x3 has it's own professional competition.

I watched the Asia cup and hire was not good enough. Coenraad was good down the stretch and Walker got better with every game but he was not chosen this time.

We need
4x 6'10 Ben simmons who can shoot the 3.
4x 6'2 Bec coles who defend better and can also shoot the ball from 3.

I think Nicholson and Talbot would be good on the women's roster also.
Both top notch defenders.
Zavecz was a good defender for the Asia 3x3 but offers not much offensively.
Think k.froling is a slight upgrade on zavecz.

Hire and Coenraad? WTF!
You will only medal with specialist 3x3 players and if you're going to use NBL players why are retired/almost retired players being chosen. This is a young man's game.
Seriously ridiculous selection here. What a waste.

Agree with a couple of the anons above, a team of Coenraad, Hire etc just doesn't do much for me as a basketball fan.
Would be better with guys like Grida.

I think these guys would make good 3x3 players.
Grida
Cooks
Barlow
Norton
Mccarron
Jois
Creek
Lisch

I'm not a regular follower of 3 on 3 but when I see Greg Hire I think yikes.
After the initial Boomers 18 man squad is announced could they not name a further 10 man training squad with guys like Lisch, Hodgson, Majok Deng, Grida etc that most fans know of.

Always going to be a problem with sports that are really just spin offs of other sports.
The Rugby 7s teams that go to the Olympics are not going to feature many guys who would get a look in at their national team's World Cup team (although on the women's side its different).
Volleyball/Beach volleyball has become sufficiently specialised that players tend to compete in one or the other year round.

Don't think we are being serious on the men's side in 3x3. Not sure when they will start bringing in 6'8 guys that can handle, shoot and defend that can go full throttle for along time. We are going to get run over at the WC.

I believe rules state you must have at least 2 of your team come from the world 3x3 player rankings. In this case for the men Wright (#1 in Aus #210 in world) and Steel (#3 in Aus #320 in world) must be in the team. Lucas Walker (#2 in Aus #251 in world) must not be available.
For the Women, Cole (#1 in AUS & #36 in World) & Kunek (#2 in Aus & #37 in world) must be included.

Women
Cole/Garrick/Kunek/Froling
Men
Wright/Coenraad/Hire/Steel
We can do alot better With the men's side.
