Knight was superb in the Wildcats’ 93-72 road victory over the reigning NBL Champions, the New Zealand Breakers, at Auckland’s North Shore Events Centre on Friday night.Runners up were Johnson, Tragardh and Saville.
The 204cm Tasmanian scored 20 points as well as adding nine rebounds and two assists to lead the Wildcats to a strong victory over the team that denied them the title last April.
Knight made 8-of-14 shots for the match at an accurate 57%, as well as nailing all four of his free throw attempts.
Other leading contenders for Player of the Week in Round One included Stephen Weigh (Adelaide), Darnell Lazare (Sydney), Kevin Lisch (Perth), Cedric Jackson (New Zealand), Jamar Wilson (Cairns), Seth Scott (Melbourne) and Ben Allen (Townsville).
