China new import rules, could help NBL
Honestly, could be better for both parties, teams and players.
The (Chinese) teams' case has already been acknowledged.
However, an import player, especially a young one, may think that a 10 day or 1 month non-guarantied contract is a good way to see if they want to spend a (whole) season there. If they don't, or don't get offered a full contract, they can consider it as part of their learning process, and it's not like it will be career defining.
Question (for me) is, does "non-guaranteed" mean that the player is not guaranteed any payment at all or that a full-season is not guaranteed. They may still make a tidy sum for their short-term stay which may actually encourage players like Ball to check out China 1st. Doesn't work, he comes to Oz.

Is this a trade war move?
Is it a big deal for a hopeful to come across and play 2 x 10 day no guaranteed contracts? Who normally pays for flights and accomomdation?

... and yeah, agree, good for the NBL. Makes the prospect of signing in China even riskier.

Probably a smart move given how much cash they throw at former NBA guys who don't take the gig seriously.

When is Bogut expected to return from rehab? I am really looking forward to see how he goes with the new team and new coach.
