19/20 COE scholarships

Looks asthough they will make a super young squad and play in Waratah made up of 03s and 04s.

They have a job opening for assistant now at coe.

Anonymous
Years ago

Swain is going back home to rehab so there is another spot and not too many left up there. Assistant Matt Paton announced as NBL1 Coach in Geelong; is it sinking?

Anonymous
Years ago

Scanlon to Eltham, the others may as well come back, Waratah League won't challenge them the way NBL1 will

COE
5’10 Melbourne 02
5’10 Swain 03 (Injured)
6’2 Prior 03
6’3 Pollerd 02
6’3 Sewell 02
6’5 Rees 02
6’5 Wise 03

Maybe melbourne, Pollerd and Sewell also enter nbl1.

Price to Knox
Nnopu to Geelong
Scanlon to nbl1?
Rose-Smith to nbl1?
Potter to nbl1?

Leaves a lot of room for guards at coe.

Deeble, Loughridge, Fakalata, Borlase, Bowyer, Simons, Dart, Puoch, Goodchild, Preston, Dunlop, Evans etc etc you would assume the ones being looked at.

Any predictions on who will be the next batch of COE scholarship holders for 2020?

Anonymous

Why is there some random fucking tweet posted

Anonymous
Years ago

They should have a state based coe. Every nbl1 conference should have 1 coe team.
No longer would they have to be away from there family’s and alot more coaches would be involved.

#279 Get a life or a hobby, you are going back to when she was 7, fixation?

Anonymous
Years ago

So are the Victorian kids who have just graduated COE coming down to play NBL1?

Anonymous
Years ago

It was only once BTW when she went from Dandenong to Sth Pen. Played at Knox for 3 or 4 years before.
So the kids left up at COE according to the list are all 4/5 except for Melbourne, surely there are other guards around Australia who can fill that void in the 03/04 age group.

Anonymous
Years ago

Surely they will start with the 04 kids soon, the girls u16 Asia team is full of injuries they need to get the 04's into the system asap IMO

Price won't be the last COE kid to come back and play NBL1 now the COE aren't playing it. Signed with Knox NBL1 and Melb Boomers

Best performers in college this year never went to coe.
Those that went have been very poor.

Anonymous

I think kids are now realising the coe is a terrible a development pathway.

Doing the usual ‘change after 1 season’ trick still?

Anonymous

Yes, Knox I think.

Who’s coming in with so many going out or playing nbl1 for other teams before college?

Atm, just 1/2 team of boys at COE and 2/3 of a team of girls.

The other two are both over 6ft4 and would be long term prospects. Melbourne and Price ran the 1/2 together at Nationals and again in NBL1 over the weekend and games where Scanlon didn't play. Melbourne close to 6ft and Price over 6ft which is probably international height these days

Anonymous
Years ago

swain expected but the other 2 I’m not sure about.
Both havent put up any decent numbers at nationals and aren’t really needed for Aussie junior squads going forward short term.

Only 4 guards in a squad of 12-13. Need at least 1 more sg and 2 new pgs soon. Melbourne is not really a pg and Scanlon will be gone next year, college bound.
U17 world’s are next year so it makes scence to bring 2-3 03/04 guards in very soon. Preferably before Asia champs in a few months.

3 new scholarship holders

02 E.Sewell 6’3 PF
03 S.Swain 5’10 SG
03 L.Wise 6’5 C

Squad is now
Agnes Emma-Nnopu (Victoria) SF 01
Gemma Potter (Victoria) SF 02
Kelsey Rees (South Australia) C 02
Lily Scanlon (Victoria) PG 01
Sara-Rose Smith (Victoria) SF 01
Olivia Pollerd (Victoria) SF 02
Jade Melbourne (Victoria) CG 02
Millie Prior (New South Wales) PF 03
Paige Price (Victoria) SF 03
Emily Sewell (Victoria) PF 02
Shaniece Swain (Queensland) SG 03
Lauren Wise (Tasmania) C 03

Surely they get some 03/04 guards next.

Has Seb Vozzo got a younger brother? Even if he doesn't play atm he should get offer based on potential and genetics.

Anonymous
Years ago

Ezis brother has a huge upside. Be interesting to see what he can do at nationals against better opponents.

Years ago

03 Rasmussen from Sturt should get a look in I would think after Nationals and Classic performance

Anonymous
Years ago

Does he have the size to be considered for the COE as a sg?

Anonymous

Very nice 02/03 group in the boys going into oceania champs.

Anonymous
Years ago

COE currently
03
Price SF
Prior PF
Evans C - Maybe a fill in?

What's left of the u15 oceania team...
03
Deeble PG
Fakalata PG
Crawford CG
Swain SG
Robinson SG
Bowyer SF
Dunn CF
Goodchild PF
Dunlop PF/C

You would assume that Swain and Dunn are a lock plus at least one of Deeble or Fakalata because of the loss of Coe pgs. Potentially a couple more from that list.

Possibly some 04 players from the Asia champs u16 team list.
Puoch SF, Heal CG and Borlase PG etc.

Anonymous
Years ago

Yeah, I missed a few. My bad.
A few fill ins on the in each side also due to junior n.t training commitments.

Think we will see at least 5 from 03 (2 vic m, vic c, qld s, qld n) and 2 from 04 (vic m) in the women.

Maybe 2 from 03 in the men, 3 from 04.

Reyne Smith for boys?

Not up to date with this age group

After watching a couple of NBL games over the past 2 weeks I must admitt I really do miss 12 minute quarters!
The game seems like it's over in a blink of an eye!
The game has gone away from being a high scoring game now to a very slow paced, boring, defensive minded game. I remember the old days when scores were up around the 120's, now if you take a look at the scores from the weekend the average score per team was 70 points!
No wonder the game is floundering, we are making it less entertaining to watch!
