Nbl1 is diluted in talent due to the extra reams, better players gone to nznbl as well.

As others have suggested this clearly means MtG will be allowed into the NBL1 next year otherwise it's blatant restraint of trade by BA and they would be in trouble legally.

Nbl 1 should be elite winter competition, it’s been so bad, compared to last seabl and NZ league, LK done lot great things but not this time. Hopefully they can trim nbl 1 to 10 - 12 best teams and Mount Gambier get in. Have promotion and relegation.

Anticompetitive behaviour. People in the Mount have always punched higher than their belts.

Unless the BA and NBL are going to provide a suitable competition for this team with a long SEABL history to play in, I don't think they can block it.

NBL/BA just about to get dragged through the mud for what reason? This decision doesn't go against Mt Gambier, it goes against any rural town / city trying to compete in a competitive competition instead of just playing outback country league. Expect heavy lobbying at National party and rural electorates. Just too much negative towards our game.

All these things have to be approved by FIBA also. It’s one of the reasons the proposed Chinese team couldn’t enter the NBL because FIBA wouldn’t sanction it. I’d suggest being a member of BA Mt Gambier would need approval to join, use Australian referee’s etc Seems odd to ban them when you won’t allow them in NBL1 but you allow the Huskies to play.

The article suggests it's the Australian NBL who've leaned on BA to prevent Mt Gambier playing in NZNBL. Maybe concerned about a potential rival to their NBL1 project? Not sure why else the ANBL would be worried?
